Depends on what you want in a DJ... lights, two man team? video screens....
I've seen basic as low as $800 and it goes up from there. High Energy has some really good packages. I booked with them.

we got a great package from FM entertainment for under 3K. We have two live elements, mc and dj, two plasma screens, and a lighting package. Everyone here raves about them.

again depends what you want.
FM entertainement- our package was 2,500 but we got all we wanted and more.
there simplist package was there dc/mc combo...one person who does both. That was under 1,000. And then you can add on extras one by one or look at their package

I would say the average for a 2 man crew and basic lighting would be 1500-2000. But don't underestimate the power of negotiation. It also depends on your time of year and what you're looking for.

I booked with FM. They have great packages and were really nice. Their live showcase was very impressive.

FM's lowest price is about 750 for a one man dj/mc we got that package and i highly recommend them!

I recommend Phil from After Hours Entertainment....he is a LIW vendor and he was the DJ for TWOTY. If you visit his website he has video clips for you to watch.

We booked Starlight Express and are paying $2895 for dj, mc, and light towers. Not sure if that is high but heard so many great things so we booked them.

I have a 2-man DJ and EMcee team with basic lights (not intelligent lighting) and it's 1200, cocktail hour included. FM for details
I just got an email from AFTER HOURS saying they are slashing prices due to the economy and are having a special deal through Feb 15, may be worth checking out...
