DJ's

DJ's

Hi all, met with my first DJ tonight and I'm thinking the price is high - $2300 for ceremony music, DJ & MC, and percussionist for 4 hrs.
What I didn't love is that they won't guarantee me the people who are working the wedding - she said that they may not be there in a year or may be on vacation. The answer rubbed me the wrong way.

Would you mind giving me the package and price you are getting? Also, is your dj/mc named on the package?

That price sounds reasonable. We got quoted by two companies 3k for for ceremony, 2 man DJ and MC, white systems, verticals towers, and percussion with some uplighting. The ultimate package we got included some more add ons for very little more. Don't be afraid to haggle and compare.

ITA! I do know what you're saying. A vendor on here (my preferred DJ @ WM also) told me the same thing. I was like so how do I know if I like the MC or not? Same thing for the live musicians. I would keep lookin! You'll find a company where you can pick your people and it will probably cost about the same. Good Luck!

I don't think the price is high but I would be uncomfortable booking a place that wouldn't tell me who my MC would be. FH & I hate in your face MCs, so not knowing wouldn't be an option lol. Check out After Hours - talk to Phil!

The price is def. good for all that...

We do have our MC named in our contract because we specifically wanted one, they should be able to do that for you.

Thanks everyone, I guess what rubbed me the wrong way was the response I got when I asked the question. I was told- well we don't really know who'll be working here in a year, plus people go on vacation. So while I completely get that logic, kinda crummy answer.

I always try to take the vendor out of the industry to see if I would accept that level of service from someone else...So for example if I hired a contractor to do work for me house in advance, would I be ok if he gave me that answer? No...

I think with these vendors personality is so much - and I got burnt with my engagement party DJ (really inappropriate behavior including him and his dancers getting completely sloshed!) so I really wanna make sure I'm comfortable with the person who I'll be spending 8 hours with!

I think that is a good price!

My DJ couldnt guarantee the DJ/MC right away either bc they have Italian/Greek/Spanish speaking DJs. If I booked the Greek speaking guy and then another event needed him that day, they wouldnt be able to book both. It comes down to them being more marketable. I get it, though!!!
