DJs and Intelligent Lighting????

Hi,
For those of you using a dj, are you also using intelligent lighting? We originally wanted to use a dj with no lighting. We met with a dj company today and they explained that since it is at night, it is better to have the room dimly lit with intelligent lighting. He explained that guests see lighting as a kind of 'security blanket' and may be intimidated to dance without it. I am afraid that it will give a 'clubby' effect and take away from the elegance - however, the number one priority for my wedding is that the guests have a great time. Opinions please!!!!

Yes, we are getting the intelligent lights. To us a good ambiance/atmosphere where guests inhibitions are low and self-consciousness is non-existent is key since we want the dance floor packed. I agree that the lights contribute to a 'club like' feel, but honestly that's what we want. A party where the music is great and people freely get up to dance. A bright room is conducive to sitting.

We decided that we won't use lighting with our DJ package. I'm was worried tht even the smallest package of lights would make it look clubby, so I made a post here to see what other people thought. Surprisingly, a lot of people don't like lights. So I felt better in my decision to not have them.

We are going with a dj and are also using the intelligent lighting. I was fine either with them or without but my fiance wanted them so.

We're getting a basic lighting package that way we can dim the lights in the dining area and not have it too dark on the dance floor.

We're having the intelligent lights too. We're getting a set of 6 - there are also different sizes so you may want to look into that. But I know that it's sutpid but I do see the lights as a type of security blanket too. Maybe I'm crazy. but I do feel that it adds soemthing also.

We're not a fan of the lights.. hence we are not getting them. Besides the wedding is in the daytime.

we are having it and our dj actually showed us a video of a wedding with and one without- it really did not look clubby at all, you just have to let them know your preferences.
