Does anyone have any suggestions for either? I have a few in mind but they are very expensive. I don't want anything cheesy for either. I'm not the typical bride. This is soo hard!

ADA Studios I am using for video and Photography. They were highly recommened and They do AMAZING WORK. And I got both for under $5k
DJ is a company that is affliated with my dad's limo company. THEY ARE GREAT! They are called Leveldjs.com

For a DJ that's not 'the norm'....we're using DJ Gaza - Gary Hoffman.
He was a club DJ in the city until he was asked to do a friends' wedding & found he loved doing it.
When you meet with him - it's ALL about the music - he'll make whatever announcements you want, but tastefully, he does no giveaways, no tv screens, nothing like that.
Try Thomas Paul for Photography..he will work with any budget!!

I loved my photographer and since i do photography i was very picky...it's a husband & wife team who are also the owners...so you know who you will get the day of...(some proofs in Pro-pic album)
For DJ we just wanted someone to play music and make an announcement here & there...that's it! We loooved our DJ...he does it all on a PC and you can create a playlist on-line...even hearing pieces of the songs you are selecting...
We used Velvet studios for our photographer and loved them. They have a lot of great recommendations from other members of LIweddings.com. And we used In the Mood D.J.s for our D.J. They have great prices and I know two people who have used them for their wedding and loved them.

We're using Lasting Impressions for our Photog & Video. Just met with them again last night...they are wonderful!! reasonably priced, you can design your own package and there are two main photogs, you can meet with them, they shoot your wedding, their pics are gorgeous!!
Our Dj- Dynamic DJs- also wonderful. Did out E-party and we loved them. reasonable prices, husband & wife run the place. Italian, which was a plus for us. Fm me if you want more info.

I'm using Leli Photography for my photos and video. Gary is really awesome. He's so nice and we felt so comfortable with him when shooting our E-pics. They are in my album if you want to take a peek. His albums are beautiful. Here's his website.
I'm using Frank from FM Entertainment for my DJ. Frank has been amazing. He has excellent reviews on LIW and I found his prices to be super reasonable. You can go to one of his showcases to see how he works...he does a quick mock wedding with announcements and music selections. We were hooked from there.
We loved our DJ...VJ Entertainment. He's a vendor on here. I think he would be exactly what you are looking for. Check him out.
Our photographer was amazing. We used Lia from Imagine Studios. Check my albums for a few of my proofs. I'm very, very happy with them.

We used Thomas Paul as our photographer..I have some pics in my album if you want to take a peek. He works fast & got our pictures to us 3 weeks after the wedding!! We we're VERY happy with his price AND his work.
Our DJ does what you tell them. If you want them to be very involved they will be, and if you don't, they won't. I would hope most DJ companies could accomodate this as its not that hard of a thing. We are using Starlight express, but unfortunitly, they are a lil bit more money than the others I have seen. I would suggest just being very very specific about what you do and don't want.
As for photogrpahers, we are using Andreas Rentsch. his work is beautiul in my opinion. I have also seen some awesome people on www.wpja.com. Its all wedding photojournalists in all different price ranges. its a great place to help you get started!

I can recomend both. I loved my photog Joe from Park AVe. They are a vendor here. Over 300 pics in my pro album. Almost all his. And my DJ was In The Mood, harry was our DJ and Dennis was our MC, they were awesome, the floor was packed all night. They did my ceremony and CH too. I had very specific instructions for a lot of different things they got itn ALL RIGHT!!!!!

I can recommend both my DJ and Photographer - both were outstanding on our wedding day. We used Spin Around Sound as our DJ and we are still getting compliments on them. Everyone loved them. Tom is the nicest guy and played all the songs we wanted and stayed away from all the ones we didn't. We had Angelica Glass as our photographer and again, I have nothing but great things to say about her. It's too soon to have our pro pics back, but I know they will be great. She is SO talented and we had such a great time doing our engagement shoot and wedding day with her. I'm not sure what her schedule is like for 08 though..she tends to book up very quickly. Good luck with whichever vendors you end up going with!!

Here's another vote for the guys at In The Mood DJ. They are great to work with, They just did our Christmas party last weekend and rocked it!

we used Silverfox for photos and were very happy with the pics. prices are reasonable. you have choice of photogs so you should be able to find one whose style you like. you can delay album til after wedding which will save upfront money. check them out. John the owner did our pics. he aND Ted were pleasant, professional and unobtrusive.
