DJ's and Photographers

We booked our Videographer which is IDOVIDEO who is awesome! Love what Nelson showed us and offered! Now its time for DJ and Photographers. I've gotten alot of recommendations but wondering what some quotes are and what they offered. For DJ's we have been recommended to

Absolute Entertainment
TommyTunes
Castle Entertainment

Photographers

Lighthouse Photography
ThomasPaul Photography
Wavecrest Photography

Just wondering if anyone can let me know what they were quoted and what packages they have been given. My fiance and I have very limited time to get to the vendors so any info would be awesome to narrow things down. Thanks! :)

Re: DJ's and Photographers

I copied this from another post I made about a photographer.

I met with lighthouse. Florio was so nice and listened to everything we said and all these notes even though it was just our first meeting and he had no idea if we would book with him. It mAde me feel he cared about us before we decided to book or not.

I checked out variety for dj they were really nice and had a lot to offer. Same thing with LI sound. Both were awesome.

Do you mind messaging me the quotes they gave for photographer and dj? We are trying to stay within a budget. Hopefully trying to stay under $2,000 for the DJ and same for Photographer. Thanks

You can definitely get a basic DJ package for under 2,000. I don't remember exactly, but all of the DJs I met with were around 1600 for 4 hours MC&DJ and cocktail hour music. I ultimately booked with Tommy's Tunes, though I also really liked LI Sound and After Hours. I met with Absolute, but I didn't really click with him. I felt uncomfortable about trusting him on our big day.

Photography is going to be a little more than 2,000, most packages start around there. I met with 5 photographers. I ended up going with a guy I worked with before. If you like the 'Thomas Paul' photography style, then you like editorial pictures which are edited with a lot of filters. Lighthouse does this, as does duet photography. I met with both lighthouse and duet and liked them a lot. I didn't use them because personally, I like the editorial shots, but I take awful candids and prefer a less edited look.

Re: DJ's and Photographers

Hey -- I'm booked with Lighthouse and Absolute, and I'm SO excited about both of them!!

As stated so many times about Lighthouse, Florio, the owner, was great to talk to. My fiance is never a 'gotta book now' type of guy, but when we walked out of the studio, he said 'let's book him,' so I went back the next day to do so! Since you already got a FM quote for Lighthouse, I won't send you another..I'm sure it's the same!

As for Absolute, this was the one and only DJ we looked into because they did my brother's wedding and they were fantastic. Everyone was up on the dance floor the entire night, and people said for weeks/months after the wedding that the party was great. I remember thinking during his wedding that THIS was the DJ that I was going to use when i got married...and so it is! We met with the owner, and he was very nice, NOT pushy at all, esp when he heard our budget. This was my fiancee's favorite vendor to meet with because he just thought it was a fun experience. We booked them right away, and decided to pick the same MC/DJ that my brother used :) Their pricing is right on their webpage, but I chose the 'basic' wedding package, which is 4hrs mc/dj, 1hr. CH CD music, and a couple of little lights for 1500. But google them, absolute entertainment sayville, for all the entertainment pricing!

I went to a few weddings with Tommy Tunes, and they were great at two of them , and okay at the other. The one they were just 'okay' for was at my friends wedding where I was a bridesmaid and the dance floor was EMPTY practically the whole night except for us bridesmaids. Could have been dud guests, but I would want my dj to try a little harder to get people excited! So maybe it wasn't their fault, but that is the reason I didn't consider them. Stubborn me :)

You can definitely get a basically DJ/MC package for under 2k. We're booked with Tommy Tunes and are very happy.

As for the photographer, what are you looking to have included in the 2K? Are you looking to have albums included? 1 or 2 photographers?

I met with Lighthouse and am booked with Thomas Paul...both quoted me more than 2k for what I was looking for. I also wanted 2 photographers, album/parent albums/etc.

Re: DJ's and Photographers

For a photographer, I found that most studios offer a basic package with full-day coverage and one photographer for $1000-$1500, and about $2000 with two photographers. HOWEVER, that is entirely basic, and will only get you some basic editing and your pictures on a CD/rights to reproduce. (I was able to book a fantastic deal with ADA Photography because this was all I wanted.) If you want albums or prints or extensive editing for the really artistic look, the price can skyrocket very quickly.

Tommy's Tunes, like everyone else said, quoted me a great price ($1000 for 5 hours and only 1 DJ), so depending on what you want you might be able to save quite a bit of money on that front. I really liked talking to Tommy, and he wasn't pushy - he just wanted me to get what I wanted. I would definitely recommend talking to him.

Good luck!

Re: DJ's and Photographers

Thanks everyone! I love all the advice it helps alot because my head is spinning from everything. lol I'm going to make appointments with Absolute Entertainment and also Tommy Tunes. We are having the ceremony at the same location as the reception so we need ceremony music, cocktail hour and reception. We really only need the dj/mc. I'm sure with our family and friends we won't need both to get everyone on the dance floor. lol I love ThomasPaul's photography alot so I am also going to get an appointment with him and possibly one or two more places and see what happens. As far as photos my Uncle is a photographer but lives out of state so he won't have all of his equipment with him but he is going to do alot of the special shots. So for photography we really need it for before the ceremony pictures as we want to enjoy our cocktail hour also. We'd like the pictures on dvd, 3 albums for our parents, an album for us, portrait, 100 thankyou cards, and all proofs. So thats pretty much what we are looking for but if we have to do without some stuff and print them out on our own thats okay too. Just trying to at least stay under $2500. Anymore advice would be great. :)

I like lighthouse. They are one of the few companies that will give you two photographers for the low price
