Hey Gals, A friend of mine was at a wedding recently and told me once the wedding was over the DJ was handing out flyers and putting them on each setting to make sure people got them. She thought it looked really bad. Do any of you know of DJs that do that? I would rather stay away from having a DJ or any vendor use my wedding as a place to hand out flyers. The advertisement should be the work itself IMO.

Re: DJs that advertise AT your wedding
I have never seen or heard of that the only thing I ever seen is if you go up to the dj and ask for a card.
My friend had a band at her wedding and they had cards on the speakers for people to take but thats about it

I think the card on the speaker is fine, but to hand out flyers to people who are not interested is in bad form. I would let the DJ know that it is unacceptable.

Speak to the DJ before the wedding and let them know you do not want them to do this kind of self endorsement.

OMG! how tacky!! I would have been SO angry if my DJ did that! giving out a business card to a guest who asks for it is 1 thing, but shameless advertising like that does NOT belong at a wedding!

That's pretty unacceptable and unprofessional in my opinion. I hope she got a discount on their rate since they got all that free advertising in!
