DJs under 1500

I met with a DJ recently that has gotten great reviews on this board but he does not fit into our budget at this stage of planning. We are looking to spend under 1500 and less if possible but I'm worried that the old saying 'You get what you pay for' will come true. Any suggestions for non-cheesy DJs that are resonable in price.

We are paying $1400 for our DJ (Let Us Entertain You). We are getting 5 hours of music, we do not need him for the cocktail hour, a DJ, MC, giveaways, lights, bubble machine and also costumes for our guests to wear during certain songs. You do not have to get everything that we got. He was recommended by good friends of mine and when we went to see him, he showed us a tape of his work. He is excellent.

we are using Phil from After Hours Entertainment. We're getting a 5 hour show with a DJ, MC and lights. (I didn't want giveaways)

We got a great deal (mostly because FH' friend's cousin in the DJ!) but I do know that even without our discount it would have been under $1500.

I can get you his # if you want...he's located in Holbrook.

We're paying $800.00 for our DJ. We're using High Engery Entertainment.
We're getting ceremony music, 6 hour reception and a small light show for this price.

I booked Parties Alive for $1400. It includes 5 hours, MC & DJ, intelligent light show and cocktail set-up to remain the whole night so there will be atmosphere music in the other rooms.

We used Steven Charles Entertainment. 1400 for 6 hours and a small light show. He was great and totally accommadating.

I am using Glen from Get in Tune, and he has a bunch of different packages, mine was under $1,500.00. They are located in Centereach.

I am using Andy from Hypnotic Sounds. Very inexpensive and I saw him do tons of weddings and sweet sixteens, etc.
Hes a friend for over 10 yrs.

I am using DanceJock for $1200, I walso interested in LI Sound and they're just about the same price.

I interviewed at least 5 dj's. Non-cheese was what I was looking for. 1295$ for ours, Music By Michael! He is great!

I'm also using Dancejock - $1,200 for DJ and MC. Three of my girlfriends used them and they were awesome every time.

Thanks everyone for the replies. From what you posted, if I don't do the giveaways and go for a basic package I should find a DJ from those listed that will fit my budget. Thanks again!!!
