Yes, especially in my 1st trimester, it was just too hard not to cry watching that show!

Do you watch Maternity Ward? Sometimes it is way to intense for me.

Re: Do any other preggies....
I don't know the difference b/t the two. One of them takes place in Canada, right? How is MW different? I try not to watch them if there's a problem with mom or baby, it scares me.

Materity ward most of the time has high risk babies and pregnant teenagers. It is on Mondays at 9pm on TLC.

Re: Do any other preggies....
I bawled like a baby watching it even before I was pregnant!!!! And then to torture myself even more, I watched it the week I was home after my miscarriage and my DH came home to me totally hysterical and banned me from watching it!!!
As for MW, I made Joe watch it with me one night and the man turned pale white, almost threw up and looked like he was going to pass out, so I had to change the channel, especially if I want him to be in the delivery room with me!!! I might be posting about how I need a coach!!!
Edited to say that I just love how on A Baby Story they have their whole family and the neighborhood in the room with them! Not for nothing but I'm lucky I'm letting Joe and the dr's be there with me, why the he!! would I want a friggin audience?!!!!

Re: Do any other preggies....
I used to watch A Baby Story RELIGIOUSLY!!! Along with Maternity Ward. At my lamaze class my instructor told us NOT to watch MW because its the extreme and chances of your labor to be like that are like 5%... too scary for pregos.

Re: Do any other preggies....
Debbie I think it is such a private moment between husband and wife that I don't think I would want anyone else in there. The girls mothers are always right on top of their daughters and I always feel bad for the husbands

Re: Do any other preggies....
My SIL is a nurse and asked me (before I was pg) if she could be in the room with us. No thanks I said. This is NOT something I need to share with the whole neighborhood. I can see the moms coming into the room during early labor, to lend some support BUT then I want no one else around. And no video camera of me having the baby either.
I cried today during a Baby Story. I just kept thinking that I will have my baby in a few months.

Re: Do any other preggies....
I had to lay down the law early on that the birth of this baby will NOT be a spectator sport. The women in Patrick's family are very close and welcome each other into the delivery room. I feel that this is a private moment for Pat and me, and I won't budge on that. In fact, my own mother makes me so nervous that even if Patrick for some freak reason can't be at the birth, she will not be my coach. I've already asked two friends, who happily accepted.
Oh, and I must be a freak because I really dislike A Baby Story.

Re: Do any other preggies....
Jenn Renee, I'm not a fan either. I don't know why, it's very touching and all but I guess it's for that reason, it's too personal IMHO to have taped and viewed by everyone. And they always have tons of people in the room....does someone's 9 year old nephew, brother in law, father, and everyone else really need to be there?
Everyone here is so cute with their weepy hormones going on.... As soon as my son was born I cried my eyes out with joy in a way that was more powerful than I've ever in my life cried before - for happy or sad reasons! It's as amazing as you can imagine - and more!!
For anyone who does choose to watch MW, please please remember that alot of times they are extreme cases with mother's that have had little or no prenantal care. It can be very disturbing. I watched it when I was pg one time and I started asking my doctor alot of questions about....I can't even remember the topic...and he was very surprised and when he found out it was from MW, he also suggested I not watch and told me some more about the show. I guess that's their 'angle', if they showed happy stories, it'd be A Baby Story

Re: Do any other preggies....
Liz, that sentence you wrote reminded me of myself. I bawled uncontrollably when John Anthony was born. It was something unreal...
I like 'BAby Story'. My sister was supposed to be on it with her last child, but her hospital denied the videotaping. (Lenox Hill). They had already started the taping, did shots at her house, the park, her and I doing prego yoga together, and whammo her hospital says NO. They were SO shocked because SOOO FEW hospitals deny it, and sure enough they had to stop everything...
It was fun while it lasted ! I Think its a great show

My husband laughs at me when I watch baby story -- he says I have moved from wedding story to baby story.

Re: Do any other preggies....
The hospital was afraid of a law suit, I bet that is why they said NO. They don't want professional cameras taping their practices, in case something goes wrong.

Re: Do any other preggies....
I've watched it b/f I got pg, but not anymore. It's a little too scary for me right now. I don't want to get myself too anxious over it. So, while I was ADDICTED to 'A wedding Story', I skip over 'A Baby Story'.
