Do brides really need a pocketbook (purse, handbag, whatever)
I kee seeing bridal handbags that I guess are supposed to match your shoes or your dress or whatever...let me ask those of you who have been married: Did you use yours? Was it necessary? Was it useful? Was it a burden? A Pain in the a$$? Did your BMs end up keeping track of it all day? I'm not too sure I see the point....

do you have to bring your wallet or identification that night??? I never leave without that. I don't know what I would do without my stuff but I know it won't stay with me that night. hmmm I wonder what others have done

I wasn't going to use one, I've never seen anyone carrying one at any of the weddings I've been to.
I recently found out that my grandmother has been cleaning and repairing my mother's (some of the sequins and pearls fell off over the years) for me to use.
I'm not crazy about it, but my mom and grandmother are both so excited. Plus it takes care of the something old and something borrowed.

I didn't bring a thing! And it was great!
One of my BMs carried my make up bag with her stuff! I had already given my overnight bag and car keys to my now husband (he checked into the hotel in the morning)...

I had no intention of using one but my FMIL gave me 2 and she seemed like she really wanted me to use one. I thought I was just doing it to make her happy but to my surprise it came in handy!
I had a huge tote bag in the bridal suite (had my overnight bag, makeup, etc.) but in the purse I threw my lipstick and small little things I would up using that day. I kept it on my table and brought it with me when I needed to use it. Much easier than digging thru my tote bag or finding a friend to come with me who had my stuff.

I really loved my bridal purse and it would have come in very handy if I ever WENT TO THE BATHROOM! But I didnt go once - not from 3PM to 2AM! Shocking right?
The only time I needed it was on the way over to the ceremony where my MOH touched up my lipstick.

I didn't have one, and I didn't miss it. I had my MOH carry my lipstick/pressed powder all night.

SonicStef - Isn't it amazing? I was drinking and stuff and I didn't go once during the reception or at the bar in the after hours party either (from like 6pm to 3am)! I went once before the reception and that was because I had to change my stockings and my BM said to go while she was there to help me! (She had to run the water to make me go!)
I did re-apply my lipstick quite a few times and that was when I used my bag. I made a fewe quick exits to the bridal suite to re-apply (esp. b/c I was having bustle issues).

Bride: I was so glad I didnt have to go because that would have been less time to enjoy the party but I didnt reapply my lipstick at all and I wish I had.

I'd say get a small one. You need to re apply lipstick (very important for photos I am told). Also, tissues and a mirror.

Marnles - yeah, you might want to think about a bag! LOL I just grubbed off my brother-in-law all night!
Stef - I can't believe you didn't hit the bathrooms once!
To answer the original question, I didn't have a bag, and I didn't need one. I borrowed my BMs lipstick when I needed to, but once the dancing started, I couldn't be bothered!
