Do Duet Photogs use assistants

Do Duet Photogs use assistants

Does it matter if photographers work with assistants? My friend told me Duet charges less because their photogs don't work with assistants. The last wedding I attended, the photographer had an assistant with a light on a tall pole that he used to light the background. Whenever I take a photo at a party or wedding it looks like the people are in a cave -- surrounded by total blackness. Can the new digital cameras fix this? My mom and I are just starting to get organized. I'm planning on checking out ADA, Patken, Duet, and a few others and just wanted to settle the question on if I should hire a studio that uses assistants. I don't think I want two photogs because that would be like having paparazzi in your face. The same question for videographers -- which I don't think I want. My cousin is in college studying film and already volunteered. But should a videographer have a lighting guy? Also, can I hire someone without the million dollar liability coverage?

I believe the digital cameras fixes that.

Assistants do more than hold the light. They adjust you your clothes notice little things that make the picture better. Tell the photographer if there is a phot op he/she may miss.

I had an assistant and a lighting person. Really glad I did. My photographer was able to concentrate on the photo and not have to make adjustments to the light or us.

We had an assistant with Duet. Well, they were actually 2 professional photogs., but one held light and adjusted as necessary, while also taking pics.

How did one of the photographers hold a light, adjust it, and take photos all at the same time? Doesn't it take 2 hands to operate a camera? If I get two photographers wouldn't I need two assistants?

I meant that the second photographer held the light as necessary, and when it wasn't necessary to be holding the light, was taking pictures. I remember them also having some lights that stand up for more posed shots, so then they both took pictures. Outdoor daylight shots, which we had a lot of, did not require lighting. Most indoor shots were good with only the flash.

We used Duet and had two photographers, no assistants. If something needed to be adjusted the photographer would do it. All of the indoor photos came out beautifully, not dark at all. I didn't see them using a tall light- it's possible I just didn't notice it because I was otherwise occupied But, I really liked Duet because they weren't in the way at all, and the pictures are beautiful.
