Do Grandparents go to the rehearsal & dinnner?

My mom doesn't want to keep them out late, but they aren't really involved right. They are just seated last before moms?

Mine will be coming to the rehearsal, you can make them as involved as you want .

I guess it depends on whether or not they will be at the rehersal. FH and my Grandparent's will not be at the rehersal so they will not be at the dinner. I think it is up to you.

It's completely up to you - would they be upset if they weren't invited? You just want to make sure not to exclude them and hurt their feelings. There's an article in Martha' Summer Wedding issue about including the grandparents.

My Grandmother is b/c she is being walked into the church and she is my only living grandparent so she is very special to us. So since my whole immediate family will be there b/c they are reading or are in the BP she will be there!

Thats' part of my question? Do they need to be at the actual rehearsal?

My mom would rather not have them, because they stress her out.

I don't think they would be insulted, if its judt the BP , but I don't know yet if FH's grandparents will be there.

Mine will not be at the rehersal, but will def arrive for the dinner.

I would just asses the type of people they are and what might be best for their health...would they rather rest the night before the wedding or be part of the festivities?

To me, the rehersal dinner is more than just a dinner for the people who are in the wedding, it an opportunity to thank the people who have helped with the wedding planning over the past year or so!

We didnt invite them b/c we were afraid we would be excluding people. DH's aunt actually called to see if she could come! So that put us in a hard place. Before we knew it the whole family would have been expected to be invited.

Wish I could have had everyone, but I wish for a lot of stuff. :)

I am inviting my grandmother and I am sure his grandparents will be invited but they never leave the house, so I am sure it will just be my grandmother.

We each have a grandmother alive and they will be there. We wouldn't think of excluding them. We want them as involved as possible since they are the 'elders' of each side of the family.

There is only one left on either side and she is from is an OTG - so, yes - she will be attending.

We are going to be inviting ours, they are not participating in the wedding but we are both so close to them that we want to have them at the RD.

I didn't want them invited because I wanted a casual young party type rehearsal dinner for the bridal party to get to know each other and hang out. I wasn't planning on having either grandma/pa walking down the aisle with the bridal party on the day either so figured no reason for them to come.

DH's mom brought them to the rehearsal dinner (even though I specifically said it would cause an issue!!) and made them walk the day of even though they knew they were suppose to walk down before the music started.... esp since my poor grandma had no involvement and was already seated...I felt bad because she felt bad about it (although I didn't tell her about the rehearsal)...

I am inviting my grandmother because I don't have any parents that are coming to the wedding.

Well yes, in that case, of course!

I love my grandpartns & am close to my Grandma, but my grandpa is justy antsy & gets bored easily & doesn't like to stay out past 8. Come to think of it FH's grandma is liket hat too, but nicer about it. My grandma I think will be find, but she always finds problems with things when there are no problems. I just don't want my mom to have to stress to much, & not have a chance to socialize.

It was her suggestion not to have them.

FH's Grandma isn't well & can't sit too long , she was fading at the end of my shower.
I don't wnat anyento have to leave & take them home.

Onthe ther hand, it does feel liek we are leavignthem out, but it's not like we are inviting all teh other relatives. Just my aunt & uncle who are the parents of my teenage BM.

FH's other grandmother may not even be invited to the wedding. That's a whole other story. She wouldn't be at the rehearsal dinner.

I invited mine, and I wish I hadn't. They didn't have a good time- they didn't talk to hardly anyone, and they had said to me that they were uncomfortable, since they didn't have an actual 'job' like everyone else. If I had to do it again, I would have let my grandparents stay home.

I don't think we'll include the grandparents. All of the GP are my side have passed away and FH has one sets of GP and his grandfather on the other side. FH grandma is fine, though my FMIL isn't too big of a fan of hers. Not to be rude or disrepectful, but both grandfathers and kind of grumpy-old-men and they refuse to speak English. I think they would be miserable around our friends and our parents would be left to entertain them. I would love to include them because I don't think they'll be coming to the wedding (LI is too far of a drive for them from White Plains?!?) but I don't think the RD is the right place for it.
