I just checked my BBB registry and something was bought that I never registered for. I called and the lady said that sometimes when someone buys some stuff off a registry and some stuff for their own use, it can happen if you don't tell the cashier that not all of the items are on the registry.
Did anyone have this happen? It is a $100 kitchen tools set. I doubt whoever bought it, bought it for personal use.

Re: Do guests buy stuff not on your registry
My friend said almost 90% of the stuff she got for her baby shower was not on her registery.

Yeah, people just buy what they feel like buying sometimes ... it's really stupid
you can just go return the unwanted gift and buy something you do want

Re: Do guests buy stuff not on your registry
That happens at BB&B -- whatever someone buys at the same time as buying something off your registry will now appear on your registry as purchased but not requested. Whether you're going to get that as a gift or not, who knows. I doubt it because if they did also buy something from your registry, that's probably for you -- the other thing could be a gift for someone else, or for themselves.
Either way, you know it's from BB&B so if you get it, you can bring it back there and use the $$ towards something you want or need.

they do buy stuff not from the registry. I even had people tell me... 'I like to not buy from the registry... I'd rather get something I picked out than you'

Re: Do guests buy stuff not on your registry
This just happened to me at Christmas..my FSIL did a ton of her shopping at BBB and a couple of items for us off of our registery and allllllllllll off the stuff she purchased that day was put on to our registry... I had no idea this happened... when I logged in to our registry to update items, I thought I signed into someone elses!! FH was like.... 'better take those off or people are going to start questioning why we have pooh and tigger tooth brushes on our registry' hahahaha...
What a pain in the arseeee!!!

Yes, it happened to us, but luckily it was something we ended up using a lot. The thing you mentioned definitely sounds like you might get that as a gift, but at least you know where to return it if you don't like or want it! It is funny though when you're opening gifts at your shower and 'that gift' comes up, you finally get to see who the culprit is!!

Re: Do guests buy stuff not on your registry
Yes, i t happened to me all the time. Besides getting things not on there, people would get me stuff from other places that I either a. totally did not want, or b. had registered for and someone got me the version of my registry. So I had 2 of some things.
It's annoying, but it's going to happen. You can always exchange it for something else on the registry. And if it's not from there and you really really hate it and don't know where it's from say something like 'oh wow, this is great. where did you find it?' And then go return away.
I know that sounds kind of harsh, but you accumulate so much stuff so quickly, it's not worth keeping around things you don't want. Especially when you can exchange for things you actually need.

You never know. My mother bought me a bunch of stuff I didn't registry for but need or she knew I would want, like a punch bowl with the glasses, ( i freaking love it )
