Do I do a Brother / Sister dance?

Do I do a Brother / Sister dance?

My father passed away and my oldest Brother will be giving me away. My FH will be doing a Mother/Son dance. Should I do a Brother /Sister dance or out of respect for my father ( and my emotions) not do a dance at all? I would love your girls thoughts. It will be at the time of my wedding 2 years that my father passed, and it was a tough one... Cancer.

I'm sorry about your dad
I think that is totally up to your feelings. I think it would be nice to dance with your brother since he is giving you away....BUT...if it's too much for you and your feelings, dont do it at all.
Maybe your dad would want you to dance with your brother...but you know best.
Good luck

Ugh...I totally understand what you are going through and I just dealt with this situation a few weeks ago at my wedding. Of course its totally up to you and how you want to feel on your day. IMO, I did not want to bawl my eyes out on my wedding day and I didn't need to bring attention to the fact my dad was not psychically there. (he passed away 4 yrs ago and it is still hard on everyone). My DH did a dance with his mom and I didn't do anything. I did dance with my brothers during the night but not announvced or anything like that. My DH did his dance with his mom halfway through dinner so it wasn't too much attntion called to it anyways and everyone was happy. In the end do whatever you feel comfortable with.

My father has also passed away. My brother did walk me down the aisle so we did do a brother/sister dance. We danced to I Turn to You by Christina Aguilera.

Thanks for the replies girls. I guess I will have to go with how I feel. I have 10 months or 309 days to figure it out.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you can make a gametime decision as well depending on your emotional state on the actual day.

PS...FH will be giving his sister away in December, their Dad also passed away 5 years ago, but I don't know what she is planning as far as 'the' dance goes.

my father passed away when I was 13. My brother is walking me down the aisle. Since my dad isnt there to give me away and I am giving the 'job' of getting rid of me to my brother I am having a Mother Daughter dance instead of a Father Daughter dance

I am in the same situation. I am going to dance with my brother. I also want to have a special dance for my sisters and his sister. I am close with mine. So FH will dance with his sister and I will have my sisters dance with their significant (sp?) others as I am dancing with my brother.

I think it's a sweet idea to dance with your brother and besides, you can dance with whoever you want!
You can even dance with your mom! Honestly, my father is still around, but I am so much closer to my mom that I personally would rather dance with her. But I am going to stick with tradition. Even though my father want always there for me when I was young...he's there now.

Dancing with my mother is NOT an option... she is not speaking to me so she is not going. Mad that I wont let HER plan MY wedding with 100% our (mine and FH) money. So that would be a great idea if someone is close with their mom ,but my mother and I NEVER were. Thanks for the suggestion
