my commute to queens on a normal day is 50 minutes, the catholic schools in queens are closed and my local district is closed. but i feel guilty!

I'm in the same situation. I have to travel from Queens (car to the RR to the subway) to upper west side manhattan (archdiocese of NY). I really DON'T want to go.....
I know all Bronx catholic elementary schools are closed.

i was just watching news 4 and they had a guy in bayside (i'm in whitestone) and he's like we just got an inch in the past hour! what??? noooo, i don't think i'm going!

no! i can't imagine! when it rains, my commute is already an hour is 10 minutes. like the snow will help it. AND...did i mention my local district is closed??? doesn't that mean the roads by me aren't good to drive on???

I'm taking the day too! I commute to the Bronx from Nassau and it's just not worth it--especially since it's still snowing!
The NYC public schools never take into account the safety of all the teachers that need to drive in.

YOu definitely should not drive in. I'm in Whitestone & its brutal here. Administration has to realize they are putting teachers lives in danger having to drive on these roads & such. I'm sure MANY teachers in your school will call in & many parents will keep their kids home too.

that's what i figured! we have a small school and i know that local teachers will call in, so although i feel like i might be inconveniencng people, if they're not going, then i'm not going. this would be my first 'sick' day, it is still snowing by me and my district is closed. oh, did i mention...IT'S STILL SNOWING!!!
