Do I have to...
look for invites and veils and headpieces yet? I am at my 7 month to go mark. I feel myself slowing down with my pace here. So I either need a pep talk or for someone to tell me I have plenty of time. LOL . Also, when do I have to look into hair and makeup trials? Thanks, I am losing motivation here. (Maybe because the school year just started up again!)

Re: Do I have to...
Yes, you have alot of time but why wait till the last minute? It's a great feeling I'm sure to have just about everything done a few months before.
I think you should ( not rush) but start looking at all those things now.
It took me about 2 months between work and all to find invitations.
Take advantage of all your time, even if you do it on a slow pace.
HURRY HURRY HURRY
LOL J/k!

Re: Do I have to...
I agree, if there is a lull in your planning, then take advantage of this time, trust me, those last few months and weeks, you will feel like you have a million things to do. So take advantage of this time that you have.

Re: Do I have to...
i have some time to go too but i have been browsing through invitation catalogs just to get ideas and to have samples sent to me--there are so many out there that i wanted to get and idea and a headstart!--------i would say to look for your veil/headpiece if you already have your dress-why not?------it may take you longer than you think or you may find it quickly and have something else off of your list!!!!

Re: Do I have to...
I went to C&H bridal for my veil. I was undecided on the headpiece (there were so many!) she custom makes veils. She told me to come back in October to give her time to make it.My wedding is in May.
Invites I will buy in December.
As for hair & makeup, get moving. I booked JN in July. They book fast.

Re: Do I have to...
I will tell you at our 7 month mark I din't have any of those things done. I personally think you have plenty of time (and I am known as an obsessice planner...). We actually took a vacation at our 7 month mark. It was a great break from the planning and you come back full steam ahead and refreshed! As far as veil and headpiece (I also ordered from C&H) and I ordered them at the 5 month mark and they were ready in a month and are sitting around doing nothing. From what I have seen most places get you that stuff quick.
Invites, I ordered at the 4 1/2 month mark. Came in in 2 weeks and took up much needed space in my small apartment for two months when I finally sent them out. Again depends how picky you are and where you order from. If you have absolutely no clue what you want, then I would start at least looking at websites at the different styles.
Hair and makeup depends where you go. I fyou are interested in some of the vendors that advertise and get great reviews on this board, I would look into booking but then again for a hair trial you may want to have you veil and headpiece. I went for my hair and make up trial last weekend (my wedding is the end of Oct.) and the hair came great and I booked but the makeup - the verdict is still out. I am looking for someone to compare against and everyone is booked!
Good luck

Re: Do I have to...
I think you're doing great on time. For our wedding last year in September, we ordered our invites in May, and they came in in just over a week. We probably could have taken a little more time for this, but we wanted to send our invites out a little earlier than the 'normal' because of a few personal reasons, and one being last summer's postage increase. We found a great place on Sunrise Hwy in Massapequa Park called Bridal Boutique. They had lots of books to look through. I had gotten a couple of samples through the mail of invites, and I hated the quality, so I wanted to be able to page through 100s in one sitting .. which is what we did. This place also does headpieces and veils, and they seemed to have a huge selection, and truly seemed exceptionally helpful. The guy, Tony, I believe, helped us with the invites and he was great .. saved us money too when he said he thought I was ordering too much for the guest list we had .. and I appreciated that .. he could have just taken the order and taken our money! He was also very helpful with wording and such. The invites are discounted something like 15%, but you get a bigger discount if you get your favors through them, and that too they seemed to have a nice selection of. Our favors had already been arranged at that point (donation & CDs), so we didn't use them for that either. I highly recommend them!
As for hair and makeup, I also had taken care of that in May for September. Kristen @ Enchante Salon and Day Spa in Smithtown did a great job for our wedding, and I believe lots of girls here have used her with much success.
