Do I have to avoid all these foods?

I just found this list on the internet.... it suggests not eating these foods while pregnant. Did your doctor tell you to avoid all of these? Any of these? Please help. Thanks.

Hot dogs
Sausages
Deli meat
Under cooked meat like beef and chicken
Pates
Ready to eat cold seafood
Raw eggs and raw egg dishes
Raw seafood, especially shellfish

pretty much! The really big ones on that list are:

raw eggs
raw fish
undercooked meat

The others I think you can do in moderation. This has been posted on a bunch of times, and it always turns up that most of us have indulged in roast beef sandwiches and hot dogs on occassion and have been totally fine. The only thing not included on this list is soft cheeses, and you should stay away from those as well.

yep, me too. But I've had an official turkey sandwich every now and again. I just don't buy them anymore from places were you may not trust the food (i.e., Subway's! There was a report a few wks ago that they don't keep the temp of the meat high enough so bacteria can grow)

Absolutely, raw items stay away from, however everthing else is fine in moderation.

Maybe I was nuts, but I did stay away from all of the foods on that list, and MORE.

Are you allowed to eat herring? Anyone know?

I believe herring is ok but other fish to limit your intake of are tuna, swordfish, tilefish, shark, sea bass, other large fish are known to contain high levels of methyl mercury. Stay away from oysters and don't forget any imported soft cheeses which may not be pasteurized.
Here is an article that goes into more detail. It is a little scary what she says about the use of plastic since I use that all the time!
