Do I have to invite??

Do I have to invite??

A few people we know just got married recently and we were not invited to the wedding. We use to be close friends (within the group) but of course as we gotten older with responsibilities we've drifted apart. When they got married a few of our other friends were invited to the wedding-- so the question is, do we invite the ones who didnt invite us?? my cousin said I should invite them and not be like them... what to do?

i honestly think if there was no real reason why you weren't invited you should be the better person and invite them... let it be their decision whether to come or not !!!

I say NO! If you really don't talk to them then why invite them? I am going thru the same thing with a girl I was best friends with since 14. The last 2 years we drifted apart. I see her when my other best friend has things going on for her baby.
I am not inviting the friend & keep going back & forth...why invite them though if you or I will never again talk to these people.
Does anyone think I am wrong?

The thing is.. I do still see some of these people, but not often. Like a few times a year . . . will it make it even more awkward?

that should be more of an incentive to NOT invite them - you see them a few times a year and they had no concern to invite you and FH - they had no problem taking you off the guest list - i would not waste a dime on these people - JMHO

i wouldn't invite them. they didn't invite you or FH. Also, it doesn't sound like you're that close with them anyway and if the cost is another concern, all the more reason not to invite.

I am in the same boat as you. I used to be in a very big, tight group of friends. When I met my FH, I kind of drifted from them, but I still hang out with everyone a few times a year. I was not invited to two of those friends' weddings. I wasn't all that close with them, but I'm sure if I still was hanging out with them, I would have been invited. I am not inviting them and I don't feel the slightest bit bad about it, haha.

things cannot possible get any more arkward than it it is now. u and you fh were obviously not considered close enough to them to be put on their A or B list so u shouldn't feel obligated to invite them to your wedding. if they ask u how your wedding was after its over, just reply, 'oh we had a great time.'

Another thing is that... the two friends who didnt invite us hangs out with the same group of friends that I use to hang out with... I will be inviting the other friends within that group -- thats ok right? i hate to be the talk of the century within that group and i hate conflicts!! this totally *****!

If you have the room and the money, will it hurt to invite them? I say invite people who are on the bubble if you can afford to, and if you can't, so be it. DH had a group that he was only 'half-in' with, and he didn't invite all of them. The only one who got pissed was the one we cut in favor of his ex (whom we are better friends with). He called her to complain, not us. We mocked. It was healing.

I had two friends marry recently who said they were going to invite us for the whole yeat of there engagement suddenly a few months before the wedding come out that they are not ablec afford to invite their friends so it'd bea family only thing. I was fine with that, I'm planning a wedding myself and understand the finances.

Well turns out my fiance & I were the only friends not invited when everyone else went.. even friends they haven't seen or spoken to in years!
I'd be lying if I said I don't feel hurt and that it's not going to affect their chances of coming to my wedding.
