do I have to wrap them in white paper, which is actually LESS white than the box? Or can I just put burgundy ribbon around the unwrapped box? Is that tacky?
I'm just nervous because inside the box will be a glass ornament, filled with sand and shells, and I don't want it turning upside down too much while I'm wrapping it, if I don't have to. It's fragile, plus the shells get buried if everything moves around too much. If I do have to wrap it, I will VERY carefully, but I just wanted to check with my girls if it's absolutely necessary first.
Thanks!

Re: Do I have to wrap my favor boxes?
If it's a two piece box (bottom and lid) I think just wrapping the ribbon around it will look very nice. If it's a one piece box I think I would wrap it then add ribbon.

Thanks!

What about little gift bags tied at the top with ribbon? That way you don't have to turn them when you wrap.

Thanks for the suggestion. Good idea, but I can't, because this is ultimately the look I'm going for:
oh wait i am using ribbon and a name tag -- to much to wrap up in paper also

If you do end up wrapping them you may want to pre-cut the paper after you figure out what size will be needed for each box. It will save on paper and help create the uniform look your going for. I love the way that table of favors looks - your hard work will definitely pay off! I plan on hosting a big old wrapping party when it comes time to prepare the favors. Let me know if you need a volunteer - wrapping is my favorite part of Christmas preparations!

oh, wow! Thanks for volunteering! That's so nice of you! I was going to host a Christmas in July party to MAKE my Christmas ornament favors, but I couldn't wait that long to make them, so I started them yesterday (ran out of supplies). Maybe I'll change it to a wrapping party... good idea! And a nice way to get my bridal party involved! I'm just a control freak with stuff like this, and it will make me crazy if they all don't wrap it correctly.
Good suggestion with getting the size of the paper right first! I bought my white paper from papermart.com, and I'm not crazy about it (I like it whiter). I may switch to the better quality Hallmark paper. I LOVE how white that paper is... a great look for favors!
I'm gonna go take a picture of an ornament I made and post it. I'm still waiting for the tags to affix to the ornaments, so I can't box them and wrap them yet.

Re: Do I have to wrap my favor boxes?
I wouldn't worry too much about the whiteness of the paper because all of the boxes will be next to each other. They will appear extremely white because the only other white they'll be compared to are the neighboring boxes. Also, it probably will not be extremely bright in the room, so the dimness will make the white pop more. (Sorry, I am a wrapping FREAK I love baskets, boxes and gift bags! I actually think of how I'll wrap something before I'll buy a present!).

I'm the same exact way... I almost went into... and still want to go into - a gift basket business. I LOVE making baskets and making them all pretty. I'm all about presentation!
Maybe I'll just have you and me wrapping the presents since we share this love of wrapping and presentation! At least we'll have fun doing it and take pride in what we're doing! lol. I know my BP... they'll be b!tching every step of the way! lol And one side of the box will have a triangle fold - the other will be squared - and it will drive me NUTS!!!
You should see the gift I put together for my MOH's shower 2 years ago. It was beautiful. She's all about the beach, so I bought her all hard 'plastic' outdoor dinnerware (that good stuff they sell in Fortunoff) with scenes of Adirondack chairs on the beach overlooking the ocean. Got the works... plates, placemats, napkins, pitcher, platter, an a 'Gone to the Beach' sign - and put it all in a big, beautiful picnic basket. I left it opened and arranged everyting perfectly and wrapped it in clear cellophane, and hung the 'Gone to the Beach' sign from the top. It looked BEAUTIFUL - and my friend deserved nothing less! I would LOVE to go into a business of doing that for a living, but I wouldn't have a clue on how to start!

I love that pic... But I think I would be annoyed if I needed to look for my name a table for my favor... Do you think that is what they are doing?
I am going to wrap my favors like that but put my FH and I names on them...
Maybe thats what they did... but the 2 guys in the pictures seem to be looking for something...
Maybe the best wrapped one???

What's the difference between looking for a name on a table and looking for a name that's on a favor on a table? I don't remember any wedding where I haven't had to look for my name amongst placecards lined up on table... what would be the difference if they're just attached to my favors? Just curious...

Because its annoying... and you would then have to do it twice once for your table card and then again for yoru favor. I like looking for your name for a table b/c usually everyone doesn't all rush in at the same time. But for the most part everyone leaves at the same time and the table would get kind of crowded and people are going to have to stand there and wait until the other people find there favor... I just don't see the point. JMO.

I don't think you have to wrap them at all!! Hollie's favors were in pretty white boxes, no wrapping paper with a red ribbon and a tag and they looked beautiful!! She has pics in her review.

Re: Do I have to wrap my favor boxes?
I bought boxes from papermart.com, and after I put a sample together, with burgundy ribbon, I thought wrapping it would look classier. So I bought a glossy roll of white paper from papermart also
That's my opinion.

no... these are INSTEAD of table cards... these would ACT as the table cards. The favors would have the guests' names and table information on them. A two birds with one stone kind of thing.
