Do i need

Do I need to have pics of flowers or centerpeices that I like before I go to the florists? I HAVE NO IDEA what I am looking for, or even colors???

I would look through some magazines and clip out things you like (even if you end up with a bunch of pics that aren't very similar) just to give the florist an idea of your style. If you don't bring anything and you don't know what you want, it might be kind of tough to get started. You can also look through the florist's books for pics that you like once you get there.

I didn't have any of that. I booked my florist based on the work he did and he told me to call him when I get my bridesmaids dresses to go over a color scheme. He doesn't show you a sample until 2-3 months before the wedding so you have plenty of time to change it.

I also had NO IDEA what I wanted. It wasn't a problem. They had HUGE BINDERS of pictures of their work and the florist should be able to help based on bridesmaid dresses, what the groom is wearing, the look of the reception hall and ceremony location, and just the 'feel' you are going for.

They will work with you - don't worry! And if they don't, time to get a new florist!

Each time I looked at a florist I told them I had no idea what I wanted. I liked hearing their different ideas. Each florist I talked to had a completely different vision. I was afraid the florists were just going to agree with me because they wanted my business. I decided to go with the one that I felt was more in line with my vision. I also loved this florist because she made a sample in front of me to show me the color combos. I also felt that they were very flexible if I changed my mind about anything. They were not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.

the florist will kind of feel you out...you might develop opinions as they are showing you different types of flowers...or pics from weddings they have done in the past. they will pick your brain~!! dont worry!!

Think about your 'vision'.....trendy? classic? romantic? elegant?

It's definitely helpful to have clippings to show what you are looking for. But if you can't find exactly what you want, they will hear you out and work with you.

I didn't bring anything with me but had an idea of colors and what I wanted based on what I have scene in magazines and at other weddings. The florist will also show you pictures /slides of their work and from there you will also be able to get an idea of what you would like. Have fun! Flowers was my fav.
