Do I NEED a rehearsal?

Do I NEED a rehearsal?

Everyone is freaking out because I am not planning on having a rehearsal or RD. Am I being dumb? It just seems like such a simple ceremony and stuff. No kids, just MOH walking and then my Mom and brother walking me. Do we need to rehearse?? I am going to be student teaching, when the heck am I going to have time to do this?

Not necessary. Are you doing the ceremony at the RH? If you are, you don't need one. You can do a quick run through before the ceremony on the day of the wedding if it makes people feel more comfortable.

Are you getting married in a church? they will probably require that you do have a rehearsal so that the priest can meet all the 'players' so to speak and to get everyone acclimated to the church.

A rehearsal only lasts about 30-45 minutes... they are usually in the evening a night before or two before your wedding. i would do one... it will probably lessen your nerves a little bit if you get the chance to run through everyything/

i don't think you need to have one in your case... if you were having a bigger wedding party, i would say to at least have a dinner to thank them for everything... but with only a MOH, its not really necessary. you can just talk through the ceremony with everybody how you want things to go...

Annie, I really think you (and your SISTER) would feel better if you had a run through! This way your wedding DAY won't be the first time you're doing everything! That could create unnecessary stress. Even if it's an informal rehearsal, I think you'll feel better having one.

I didn't think I needed one but my hall said they wanted me to so that they can start on time and everyone knows where they need to be and all!

Are you marrying at the hall? They will do one [the MD will insist] right before the ceremony. You really won't need more than that if it's a simple ceremony at the hall...I fretted over this for a few days back when I realized there would be no real rehearsal and tried to figure out how to have one...but I realized I'd just roll with the punches. DH had been in a Jewish wedding at the hall last summer and it went fine with the small, mini rehearsal right before...no one knew they hadn't been practicing for hours the night before.

I don't think its necessary, just a waste of money in some situations like my own. I have moh only so no need to for reheasal.

For us it's just a moh and my mom walking me down and a best man.
our church said that it's not necessary.

edit: BTW, you sound like me...I am student teaching through this too

Thanks girls! I am getting married at RH as well as getting ready there so maybe beforhand we will run through it real quick (just me, Mom, MOH, and my brother). Thanks though, I didnt think I had to have one but people made me feel crazy!

I didn't have one and the ceremony was one of the few things that went smoothly that day!

Jewish weddings, btw, traditionally don't have rehearsals, so LOTS of weddings go beautifully without them.
