Our ceremony and reception are at the same place. We sent everyone STDs with a link to our website, which has directions from every possible location as well as a link to Mapquest.
Do we need to include direction cards with our invite as well? Do I also need to include directions to the hotel where we've blocked rooms for our OOT people?
I don't like the cards from my hall or the hotel so I'd have to have them printed up from somewhere else. Thanks!

I would- unless people are very sentimental/pack rats (like me) they may have tossed or lost the STD. Plus, many of our parents' generation (like my mom!) may not be tech savvy. I'd do it just in case.

I have seen it done where there were directions to the church, reception AND hotel...and it's fine. If you dont' like the way they look, and you have the $$ then have new ones printed.
IT is important...especially when you are dealing with poeple of multiple generations...that you DO NOT depend on the internet for communication. A lot of people still don't have or use computers at home.
It's better safe than sorry, and if it's tasteful and elegantly done, it will be no big deal.

I would definitely add them...sometimes people rely on that & may have thrown the other info out... I got my cards from our reception site.

I would definitely add direction cards. I am getting mine from snappymap.com. Also inkspun prints direction cards for much less then snappy map.

Do you know if either of these places (or any places) would give me a paper sample first? I really want the direction cards to match my invites (or at least come close) but I can't pay my calligrapher/invite designer any more $$$ to do it!

Skip inkspun then. They look like plain white. I am sure snappymap will work with you to design something.

My hall provides direction cards for me. Although my FH saw them and decided they were no good. He has people coming in from Brooklyn and from Jersey and the directions are wrong.
So I'll end up doing them myself. I'll draw the map with a felt tip pen and fax it over to my mail order invitation company.

I would include them. People may not have saved the website address or not have access to it. I didn't like the cards my hall/hotel/Church provided so I went to Paper Access in the city and found cards that matched my invite color as close as possible and made on card and then took it to Minuteman Press for copies.

I think you have to enclose them because not everyone will save STDs and not everyone uses the internet, especially older people.

I think you defintiely should. By the time the wedding rolls around, I don't know where the STD went. I always assume the directions will come in the invite, so without even looking, I'd bring the invite with me, and then realize I have no directions

I did my own direction cards printed up on business cards from Staples. i would definitely include directions.

Yes, my direction impaired friend says it is always way easier if the directions are included in the invitation since she takes the whole envelope with her (I think most do...)
I made directions to both the church and the hall.

Direction cards are a basic courtesy to your guests. Remember, not all of your guests may be computer savvy.
