Do I need to bring a gift?

A family member is flying in for a visit. We're all going to dinner tomorrow at her parents house. She's having a baby in July and will be back then for the Christening.

For tomorrow, I was going to bake cupcakes and bring her a box of chocalates.

Should I bring her a gift too?

i guess it depends on how close you feel to this person...if you're not very close, then i would say no gift is necessary.

I agree. It's nice enough that you're baking and bringing chocolates.

Yeah I agree. It depends on how close you are. Get her the gift for the birth and in the meantime the cupcakes and the chocolates are a very nice gesture.

is she having a shower? If she is & you arne't going, you could giver her a gift now or send it at the tiem of the shower. If she isn't I would give her a gift now, in lieu of a shower gift.

If she is ahving a shower & you are going, son't give a gift now.

If it is not her first child you don't have to give a gift, but if you are close , you could give her a little something.

I'd also ask what other people are doing.
I would thing the food items are more for the hosts, her parents.
