Do I need to have a guest book, and are there other options?

Hi,

Can someone tell me the purpose of a guest book? I already know who's attending, right?

I just don't konw what I'd do with a book with my guests' names in it... Are there other options besides having them sign a book or poster?

Thanks!

We didn't do one. I had no idea what we'd do with it afterwards.

I'm having a guest book so I can send thank you cards to everyone. For example I may not know Joes third aunt on his father side, however if she and her family shows up and brings a gift, it would be nice to have a record of their names and addresses.

Just a note: You will probably have most addresses from sending out the invites.

Make sure you keep the list! LOL My laptop broke and I was so thankful I had at one point printed it out. I have since added them to a real address book.

You can do a wish bowl.

We are using the wishes that people write on them to put into a scrap book.

Most of the weddings I went to didn't have a guest book and we don't plan on doing one. My brother and SIL made one - it was a photo album and had a bunch of pictures of them - pictures were on the left page and then the right page had little envelopes and squares of paper for the guests to write little notes on. It was really pretty and nicely done, but I doubt they'll read it more than once or twice.

Yeah but I always loose EVERYTHING! At least I'll have the book and try to do all the thank you cards on the plane going to Italy.

We aren't going to have one. The wedding is small and those books have enough room for 1000 signatures. I would fill 2-3 pages. I like the sign in board but we didn't get our e-pics yet.

I ordered a sign-in board from ebay. It has a slot for an 8x10 wedding pic and right now that spot has a nice poem in it. It is SO cute and it was inexpensive.

I think it is more of a keepsake, not really something that serves a purpose.
We will have a signing board because it is included with our epics. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have had anything

I have the polaroid guest book -- my DOC will take the pics.

A signing board or wish bowl.

We're having a wish bowl. Then I'll put them into a book along with casual photos from the disposable cameras.

What cute idea!!!

I thought so too! And you could easily DIY it and have one printed up at Kinkos or Staples.

We had a signing plate for our RD, because that was our closest friends and family and it's now on our Kitchen wall. We skipped the signing book for the reception though, I just didn't think it was neccessary.
