The thing is that I am not sure I want to wear white. I am very pale and I might choose to wear ivory or blush. What do I wear when trying on the dresses?

When you first look for your dress, you dont really need shoes... Actually I found mine wearing a pair of sneakers... You can tell them approximately how tall your husband to be is and figure out what size shoes (height) you normally wear... TRUST me its easier to pick out shoes AFTER the dress than before the dress... Ask the Bridal boutique... AND HAVE FUN!!!!

You really don't need shoes until you start your fittings. BUT...Sometimes wearing high shoes will make your posture better, so you may want to bring them along.

I did bring shoes but ended up going barefoot since it was easier to get into/out of dresses with out worrying about tearing them. You will need the shoes for the fittings, though.

You definitely don't need shoes to try on dresses. I tried most dresses on with flip flops. You will need to have shoes or at know your least heel hight by the time you order if your dress has detail on the bottom and needs to be measured for length. Otherwise, you don't need shoes until your first fitting.
