Do I NEED to Register? Opinions please?

Do I NEED to Register? Opinions please?

FH and I already live together and have more than enough stuff to fit in our condo.

Friends and Family keep telling me how I NEED to register for stuff for my shower or people will just buy us random items that they like. Honestly, I don't feel the need to register for these reasons:
1-We have more than enough stuff right now.
2-We have no room for much of anything more.

Is there any alternative?????

TIA

I thought the same way because we lived together for 5 years but you can upgrade your stuff and get things you wouldnt buy for yourself.

We did it for the same reason- to upgrade what we have, or hopefully get things we would like. Like a Dyson.

And you can get things that wear out, like sheets, towels, etc.

You should register, its the right thing to do.

Hey...you could always do 'out with the old in with the new'. Maybe change the colors in your bathroom by getting new towels. Or, upgrade to the Mercedes of Kitchen Mixers

definitely register... or you'll end up with about 100 crystal picture frames and punch bowls you'll never use
AND... if you register at bed bath and beyond, you can return stuff for cash as long as it was on your registry- easy way to get some money, if you dont feel like you need 'stuff'.
i'm sure if you go look around, you'll realize there new stuff out that you want or things you want to 'upgrade' to... have fun!!

My thoughts exactly. You can donate all of your older items or give them to someone who wants/likes them.

Is there anything that you might need to update--or a bbq or other items that are customarily registry items. You don't have to register but I know what it is like to try and return gifts that you get--I spend hours trying to figure out where some stuff was bought and I still haven't found where to return them to--some people register for stuff and then return it so that they have a credidt to the store to buy bigger items--like couches or patio furniture. Just a thought--then you can have things to open at your shower.

I live with FH for 3 years. Though we have everything we need, there were a bunch of stuff we found that we wanted. That is what we registered for.

We also registered for bedsets, wedding frames and stuff - can't have enough of those

Its up to you really, but, if there is something that you want, you should register for it. Its better than getting things you may not want at all! Plus, it'll make it easier on your guests. They probably have no clue what to buy either.

You should definetly register, even though you don't need anything, people are still going to bring you gifts for your shower, so they might as well be things that you like.

I'm in the same situation and I ended up registering at BB&B. A lot of what I registered for are replacements from stuff we have had a long time (sheets, towels, bath mats, etc.)

The way I looked at, either I register for the stuff that I like (and could use), or leave it up to someone else to pick out stuff that I (potentially) wouldn't like.

I didn't want to register either, but my friend warned me that if I did not, I would wind up with 17 sets of candle sticks, twelve toasters, and a load of other things that I didn't want.

I'd suggest registering at Bed Bath and Beyond... I'm sure you'll find some stuff you can use... and then register for a bunch of other stuff and return whatever you don't want and get the cash!

how about registering for your honeymoon?!?! i know that there are ways to do it. this way people can buy you specific things for your trip - a dinner, an outing, etc.

Try registering for honeymoon stuff, or limo travel or something. It might help. People will buy you stuff you don't need, no matter what.

I'm in the same boat; FI has a house, I have an apt...between the two of us we could open up a Bed Bath & Beyond....however, if you do not register, people will just to places like that & buy you more of what you already have...so my suggestion is just register for kitchen & bath towels, things for the yard...

same here. FH and I have lived together for about 6 years now, and we both lived alone for a long while too, so we have a lot of stuff. But now we've got nicer stuff and things we would never have purchased for ourselves.
