You dont but its a matter of choice. I personally felt like if I planned this whole wedding myself then the last day will be a breeze.

A DOC is a matter of personal choice. Some factors to consider:
Are your ceremony and reception at the same location?
Are there any special situations/accomodations at either location that someone other than you the bride need to make sure are handled properly?
Are you the kind of person that can delegate with confidence, or the kind of person who firmly believes that unless you personally handle something it will get screwed up? (if you can't give up control having a DOC might not work for you)
Prices range from $300-$1000.

Re: Do I need to use a...
some brides find security in using one...and it means the person going around making sure everything in place isn't family or a member of the wedding party. of course, there's a girl here who's DOC isn't coming to her rehearsal...which is like the wholepoint of having one. i think it's a personal choice and many brides get through the day without one just fine...between knowing what you want and laying it out for your RH and hte experienced staff at your RH, likely you won't really need one either.

I didn't use one, I didn't need one. For the smaller details (bringing the bubbles to the church, remembering to take the unity candle, etc), my mom's best friends stepped in and were more than happy to help. My MOH and bridal party were great during the day with keeping me calm and taking care of details, that's what they are there for. My RH took care of setting everything up at the hall and it looked perfect. My matre D was awesome too, he was so on top of everything. To me, it would be a waste of money, but I know some girls have DOC's and are happy that they have one. I think it depends on the type of wedding you are having and if you really feel like your bridal party/RH won't step up to take care of the details.

IMO, if you planned your affair the way you wanted...then why use a DOC. Some people say it's to take the stress off.....if you can afford it..go for it! Not sure about the cost of them
