Do it yourself programs

For those of you who have made or will be making your own programs, can you post pics of them? I have no idea where to start other than knowing that I do not want to pay my caligrapher for antoher thing! I feel like EVERYTHING is just a fortune!

ETA: Can you also let me know what program you used to make them and where you purchased the paper? I live in NYC so there is no Michael's near me. With the wedding only 8 weeks away I really need to get this started!

Sue, where did you get the paper? What program did you use to create that? Also, how does the inside look?
Sorry for all the questions, I am getting a little stressed

Here mine:

Kinda a hassle, but everyone LOVED them.

I used a vellum paper overlay - got that on eBay. Then I used a rose petal paper on the inside (www.artpaper.com). I used Microsoft Word to format it. The fonts are Lilith and Bickham Script. I also used resume paper to print it on. and I got my ribbon from www.papermart.com and www.a1ribbon.com.

I got the paper from Michaels. I also got the matching stuff (for menu cards)

I used their template on www.uprint.com for printing.

The inside was another sheet of paper with all of the names, songs, readings, etc...

Re: Do it yourself programs

I'm doing mine, kind of half myself and half with the printer. I typed up what I want, but I will have the printer print it on cardstock and then I will assemble them myself. Since they are kind of tri-fold, except cut into 3 separate pages, it wasn't that hard to do. I went into Word, turned the paper on it's side and made 3 collumns. On the first page I listed parents, bridal party, and officiants. The second and third pages run through the ceremony and describe some of the Jewish and Catholic traditions we're encorperating. For the cover I'm going to have the printer print on this nice vellum that I used to make the rose petal cones so that everything matches. It's just going to have our monogram, say 'the wedding reception of Nicole and Steven' and the date, and it has a quote. I will punch holes in the top of the pages and tie them with a ribbon. I hope that makes sense.

ETS: I dropped them off at the printer today and he's charging me $60 for 125 of them. I could have done them myself, but I think the $60 is worth me not stressing over it. Now I just have to assemble them this weekend.

They have beautiful stuff! Unfortunately with my 300 guests, that will put is way over what we were hoping to spend!

Re: Do it yourself programs

We designed ours to look like Broadway show Playbills. We had pictures and bios of the entire wedding party and a list of events divided into Act 1 and Act 2. We used powerpoint and word.

ETA: The only picture I have is of the proto type. The finished product looked better.
