Do most people have more than the church organ?

Do most people have more than the church organ?

Since I am getting married in a church, I have to pay for an organist. I would like something else when the guests are arriving but I hate to spend even more money. Tired of the classical singer and want something different. Love the harpist idea but they can be pricey.

What is everyone else doing? Any ideas or is an organ enough?

We're just doing organist with the singer the church gets us for the responsorial hymns. The organist should also be able to play the piano and she can alternate some prelude music between the two. Personally, I don't think that people necessarily notice the prelude music so unless money isn't an issue, I think there's better ways for it to be spent! jmo though! If you do want a 'different' idea, there's a mandolin society in LI - we may get them for our cocktail hour. We saw them at a friend's CH and they were awesome!

I have to pay $200 for an organist and I don't get a singer or anything from the church. I feel like I am paying to much for this church and Priest. Others seem to be getting the church organist or singer without having to pay.

I'd like a harpist but not sure I want to spend $350 on it. Someone said look into music students. Where?
