i am definitely saving this thread

this is the main reason my mom tells everyone to prepare for a 'boring wedding' she asked if my guests should bring a book to read

one thing i really like though that is super silly is like that 50s medley with the twist and all that - i really like that and people dance to it

but no organized dances. . . and I am introducing my DJ to TWO people, my MOH and BM - and Only THEY can request songs, so i dont have to be bothered and no one can request anything on my do not play list lol

Well what songs are you playing, i mean just bc you are not playing certain songs doesnt mean that your wedding will be boring...I mean come on theres millions of other great songs, with great beats that will gt people up and dancing...Are these songs our ONLY options, is it that bad if we dont play it, OH NO THERES NO OTHER MUSIC!!!!

I did this when I had my sweet sixteen.. at that time there were certain artists I just did not like, and I know other people like them, but i figure I was playing plenty of music so it didnt matter if i eliminated a few artists or a few songs...

for the wedding, I am doing the same thing, the band is going to give me a list of songs they play, and I have to eliminate any I do not want to hear.. then if there is something I MUST hear, they said I just have to give them enough time to learn and practice it.

i absolutely agree with you!

it is just my mother is old school and she thinks every wedding should be exactly like all the weddings she has gone to for the past 40 years that she has been in this country. . . so it is impossible to get her to think outside the box - you would think that my vows are null and void because i am not having hte bo-k toss

as for what i want to play:
i wnt the CH to be all like dean martin, frank sinatra type stuff

and for the reception i want lots of dance music, even like some 80s dance stuff, lots of popular stuff - the regular stuff really without the organized dancing. . . i am not so good with music so i am going to need the DJ to help me with this one!

my do not play list consists of ABSOLUTLY NO RAP OR COUNTRY

i listen to indie rock..and i have to make a very big list of play lists

that sounds perfectly fine, and i am sure it will be fine, people will survive without group dances...Personally thats when i sit down, but thats me.

I hate cheesy 70's disco!!! I asked FH the other when we booked our DJ if there were any songs on the 'group dance songs' lost that he would want and he said 'yeah I want the cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, dollar wine song' I was like...uhhhh ok' LOL!!!!!! I thought that he was kidding but then he reminded me of our first vacation together (a cruise) and how we did the dance on the ship and that's why he wants it. cute i guess!!
