Do NOT use Caffe on the Green

Caffe on the Green in Queens was recently the site of a hate crime attack against a group of Asian women out to dinner. One of the women was even beaten as employees looked on. Please send a message that hate crimes and violence against women will not be tolerated by not choosing Caffe on the Green as the site of your wedding and encouraging others to do the same. I totally disagree. Why should Caffe on the Green be penalized because of some bad patrons? It wasn't their fault - the articles say staff tried to break it up. Bartenders and wait staff are not obligated to jump in, they're not cops. Other patrons could have / should have stepped up as well.

Some girls on here got married there and would prefer to remember their wonderful day, rather than the scene of a crime.

The guilty are being charged. We don't need this kind of inflammatory stuff on here.

Comments like yours are ridiculous and totally ignorant, this really is not Caffe on the Green's fault.

If you read the articles you will see that both the perpetrator of the crime and the owner of the restaurant are purpotedly members of the same crime family. Is this really the sort of place someone would want associated with their wedding?

according to the newsday article:

'A bartender and a waiter tried to break up the fight, Franco said, and the maitre d' went after the Fortunatos to try to get payment for their bill, but they had left.'

so it seems to me that the employees there did try to help.

i have eaten at caffe on the green many times, without incident.

not really sure of the point of this post. violence against ANYONE can happen ANYWHERE. the article states that the employees tried to help.

Now, why should this stop anyone from getting married there? Crimes can happen anywhere.

FH aunt got married here and it was a beautiful wedding and the staff was great. So why should they be in trouble for some ones stupidity? People are stupid and do stupid things that doesnt make it anyones fault but thier own!

I live right near Caffe on the Green have eaten there a bunch of times and have a good friend who is getting married there and think this post was so ridiculous!!! You can't blame the place for an incident happening. They appear to have handled the situation to the best of their ability and there is no reason why people shoudnt get married there.

Hmm, I wonder why LIWeddings has not shut down this thread. Isn't saying don't use or stay away from any particular vendor a violation of their rules?

This is a horrible, horrible hate crime, and I'm quite shocked that it happened in Queens.

However, I agree with the rest of you, it could have happened anywhere and I wouldn't ban the place.
