Do opinions matter?

Ok, and this has nothing to do with the squirrel/suffolk situation, but I know that I've heard a million times from a million people, 'its your day; do what YOU want.' Then in the next sentence people feel they have the right to tell you things like who you should/shoudlnt invite, what colors you should have the girls in, when/where you shoudl register, etc.

How do you deal with this? Do you listen? Smile and do what you want to do anyway? How can you not let the opinion of every person the world eventually drive you insane!??! This is all b/c some random person at church just reprimanded me for not registering yet AND told me that I shouldn't invite someone that I plan on inviting. *** LADIES?

I kind of smile and nod. Tell them it's an interesting point and that I'll make a note of it. And then I ignore them.

To a point... b/c while it is you and your FH's day, it's also a party for your friends and family. You want everyone to have a good time so taking their ideas and opinions and feelings into consideration is always a good thing.
If you hate the chicken dance but half your guests beg the dj for it.. maybe you should give in and let it play...
but if you want someone at your wedding and other people tell you not to invite them, ignore them and do what you want.

People are going to give you opinions no matter what, whether you ask for them or not. In the end it IS your day, and you get to make the decisions and decide who's opinions actually matter. If there are opinions of close family members and friends, I might be a little more inclined to at least listen to what they have to say, but if its some random lady from your church, just nod and smile. Thats what I do all the time. Then just forget that they even said anything, unless it was actually a decent suggestion.

Thats just my opinion though

Let it go, I think the only people who really understand are those who have already been through it or are planning....
