Do people give you constant advice on your registry?
My mother keeps going back and forth. I don't have enough things on my registry. I don't have enough fancy items. The china is too expensive. The new china is too modern. I need more steak knives. etc. etc. etc.

LOL!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to laugh but...I picked stores that were affordable and convenient. Then she (mom) says well what about this and what about that? I want a big shower, so that all the ladies can meet eachother at the shower, and when their husbands won't dance at the wedding, they won't feel uncomfortable getting up to shake their groove thing!!! More of a meet and greet then 'Buy Amanda Gifts Day'.
I personally registered for things that we'd really like to have that are affordable gift people can buy. If you and FH live together already...then you know what you need. If you don't then just register for the thing that you want. If your mother doesn't like it or get it, then just explain to her that these are the things that you and FH are interested in.

My SIL (who is also my MOH) asks me at least once a week when I'm going to register...so I can imagine how she'll harass me when I actually do register.
(I plan to register sometime in late spring/early summer)

We don't live together yet. We are actually signing contracts on a house tomorrow! I just registered for all of the basics because we have nothing. I know a lot of it either we will buy as we need it or family will buy as we move into the house. I don't want to register for crystal and fancy decorative items because I don't need them. I need forks! I need spatulas!

This is partly because she wanted to get us a gift from our registry for Christmas, but she wanted it to be considered a 'gift item'. I told her just to get our everyday dinnerware but she insists on something fancy. We need plates, not crystal salt and pepper shakers! It would be different if we had the basics already.

I love it...'I need forks! I need spatulas!' Then you need to seriously register for what you want. You guys are starting fresh! Possibly a new house 'Fingers Crossed'!!! They start off on a clean slate...towels, forks maybe a knife or two !!! Don't let anyone pick your registry for you.
