I never really thought they did - until my best friend told me speeches were made at other people's e-parties. I don't want to put people on the spot or make anyone feel uncomfortable - actually, I just want it to be a very low-key fun day - I don't want to ask my friends to make a speech, how awkard!

That's nice. I definitely imagine people making speeches - but having it be on the spur of a moment thing - the last thing I want is an 'agenda!' Ugh. The agita. What's wrong with me.

My Dad's friend bought a case of champaigne for a toast! My sister ended up giving a quick speech.

Re: Do people make speechs at e-party?
Both my dad and my future FIL gave a really nice speech that had everyone laughing and a big 'Awww' at the end, and then my FH and I said thank-you to everyone for coming and sharing in the special day with us. I think at least the engaged couple should just give a quick 'thanks' to everyone for attending, imho. Hope this helps!

My father will make a speech. I doubt his parents will because they are very calm and quiet individuals unlike my family. Towards the middle of my e-party I'm going to thank everyone for coming, blah, blah, blah and then since my parents would have had their 25th anniversary...I'm going to invite them to the dance floor and have them dance to the same song when they got married. It's a surprise for my parents...can't wait to see their faces.

Re: Do people make speechs at e-party?
We had a champagne toast at ours and our best man and my sister (MOH) said a few words, it was very sweet. My sister is a little on the shy side in front of groups, so I was surprised that she spoke...They said such nice things and everyone loved it. It just totally depends on whether or not people want to...we wouldn't have put anyone on the spot.

Re: Do people make speechs at e-party?
my FFIL made a short speech. I think I'm having another E-party thrown by my dad in November (long story)... I don't know if he'll be making a speech then...

No one did at ours. Actually we didn't know anyone was supposed to. Nobody seemed to mind. They were having a good time mingling.

We got up and thanked everyone for coming, and then danced to 'our song' (I had recorded it as a surprise for FH). FFIL also made a nice speech.

Re: Do people make speechs at e-party?
I just got back from an e-party where the bride and groom gave a few words for each of the bridal party members as they gave them their gifts. It wasnt formal or anything but was such a nice touch. I thought it was such a great opportunity for the bride and groom to let each of those people know how much they mean to them.
