do people really leave after you cut the cake?

do people really leave after you cut the cake?

I only have my photographer for 8 hours and I do not want to cut the cake too early because I dont want everyone to be able to feel like they can leave.

what if we cut the cake but dont have it served until later on?

My reception ends at midnight and I am thinking of cutting the cake at 10:45 and having the photographer leave at that time.

They didn't for me! Mostly everyone stayed till the end!

My guests didn't leave, but I've been to weddings where people really just waited till the cake cutting and left.

Is there any way you can talk to your photographer to stay the extra time without charging you?

Depends if they want to leave they have a set time in their head when they are leaving and it just happens to be around the cake cutting. I only see the older crowd leave really when that happens typically everyone else stays to the end.

some weddings i've been to i wanted to leave after they cut the cake, but quite frankly, if i am up, dancing, and having a good time (like i hope my friends will be) i don't care who leaves early

Most of our guests stayed until the end - but our wedding was from 1-6

Our stayed until the end 12:30 AM!!!.. Never really cut the cake, but we did take pictures of us pretending to cut the cake.

Some guests start to leave after they have their cake & coffee. We had the VH and I made sure to have it put on the menu so people would know to stay after the cake.
I had a few people leave right after dinner!
But my wedding ended at 1 am and I have to say though that most people stayed till 12:30-12:45.

Why not cut the cake right after dinner/first dances etc but wait to have it served? That way its early enough where people will hang around and dance and have a good time and leave whenever they need to (as opposed to after this arbitrary cutoff point). Also it allows everyone to be present for it and a good opportunity for photos.

My DH and I left BEFORE our guests did and we left at 1am!!!!!! I think the last of our guests left at 2am or so.....then they went to pubs! Glad they enjoyed the party!!!!

Most of my guests stayed but there was a bunch that left after the cake cutting and I was missing dance time saying to good buy to them.
