We're not planning on it. But usually I've seen speeches done at the RD.

i have no intention of it. just a short thank you speech at the rd

i think traditionally yes. the bride and groom make a quick speech thanking their guests for celebrating with them.

fh and i are planning on doing this.

I've been to one wedding where they did that - they said a quick thank you right after cake cutting which i thought was really nice.

basically, they thanked everyone for being there on their special day, etc. i'm not a big speaker, so will probably skip it for our wedding, but i did think it was a nice touch.

well, i think it def depends on what you want...i have been to weddings where the bride & groom dont say anything & leave the speeches up to the BM & MOH and/or parents.

At my bro's wedding he go on the mike to thank everyone for coming and to acknowledge my SIL's Godfather that owned the hall where they had their wedding...he had passed away a week before the wedding so my brother asked that everyone have a moment of silence for him. My father got up at my brother's wedding to thank my SIL's parents for throwing a wonderful wedding and to welcome SIL into the family & to (this part always makes me cry when I think of it) tell my brother that he is his hero.......

FH & I plan to speak at our wedding. FH will thank everyone for coming so we dont have to go table to table....I know that can sound bad but you can spend 1/2 your reception talking to each person at each table!!!!! I plan on getting up and proposing a toast in honor of my brother and all our loved ones who are no longer physically w/us.

I told FH he had to do this and he freaked out. I've seen it both ways. I think it's nice to do, but not necessary if you're going to break out into hives thinking about it, like FH

Most weddings I have been to the bride usually thanked all of her guests for coming. I'll probably do this... I definitely won't turn it into a huge speech though.

We did not. Some people do. You can do whatever you like!

ETA: We did a special message on our video from just the two of us.
