My FH and I are being married by a priest and rabbi suggested by our reception site. We're paying them each $350, do they honestly expect to stay for the reception too? If it was our family priest or rabbi I could understand, but they're strangers.

We are having a cantor and a minister - and we're paying a lot more than that!! As you said - it's not your family clergy. They are performing a service and are being well compensated for it. They will not be invited to my reception.

Our Deacon invited himself actually, but he left it up to us to decide on the 'donation' My rabbi politely declined because he will be busy that day...

that was one ? i asked of my cantor he said no that he would not be staying. you should ask some just might. the cantor that is marring us is not ours just a vendor off the board.
