I always book online or through Liberty Travel but I'd be open to talking to a 'real' travel agent if they save me money. Recommendations would be appreciated if you have a really good one.

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
I'm not sure if they save you money or not, but FH and I ALWAYS use them because we feel more secure that way. I've booked my own trips in the past and ended up not getting the room we wanted, hotels not having our reservations, etc... so for something as important as the honeymoon, i'd DEFINITELY recommend using a travel agent... We used Liberty travel. Our agent is great, but she's in Staten Island...

if you've booked through Liberty Travel then you've booked through a travel agent! I would definitely recommend using one! They can find you deals and specials and they know about flight prices (what is high for that area, what's low), etc. They could even help you find the perfect place if you don't already have one in mind!

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
I used Liberty Travel for my HM and he didnt do any better than what I got off the internet. I was hoping that maybe he could have gotten us a room upgrade or something, thats whey we went to him. But nope....nothing! When we book our flights I might just do it on my own.

I **think** they cannot save u anything on flights, but hotels and car rentals they can save u a ton. I booked the flights on my own and booked everything else through a TA>

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
I used Liberty Travel (my mom) and I don't think it saves you money as much as it gives you piece of mind that if anything goes wrong, you have someone here to help you get it straight. My mom booked FSIL's honeymoon to St. Lucia and they missed their connecting return flight in FL, she called my mom and got on another flight quicker than had she tried to do so herself. Just an example . . . I am definitely an advocate of using one.

yes you would be surprised.. you can get great deals through travel agents cause sometimes they have more contacts in certain places and hook ups. then prices online. trust me its good to know if anything goes wrong, or if their are flight delays or anything you can call your travel agent and they can help you.. otherwise your own your own and let me tell you it could be horrific!!! Ive seen first hand, lol

I've heard people say Liberty Travel isn't a 'real' travel agent that's why I was asking. I've always used them and never have had problems but they always seem to have the same deals I find online.

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
I have ALWAYS booked all vacations myself...its a big step for me to trust a TA. Even though I am working with one, I still do alot of research to make sure I am getting the best price available.

This is funny - I don't know what would constitute a 'real' ta then? I've never really booked any vacation online myself.

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
I always thought that it was cheaper to do it yourself online but so many people talked about travel agents that I thought I´d check. Surprisingly they´re giving me lower rates. Even for sandals which is having sale (although i hear they are always running the sal) they quoted me a lower price than the website.

Re: Do Travel Agents Really Save You Money?
i think the only difference might be the travel insurance and that they would take care of everything if god forbid something went wrong... we're taking our HM in feb so if weather or soemthing else goes screwy, at least i wont be the one having to fix the arrangements
