Do u believe its bad luck to show ur dress on u b4 the wedding?
Just wonderin , being alot of us have been gown shopping, I dont mind posting the picture of the dress , but if i hear one more time ' dont show anyone its bad luck' LOL... Im starting to believe it,,
Or it this some crazy Italian thing my mom & family think??

LOL my mom thinks its bad to tell anyone outside the wedding of any wedding related details. Shes like oh people will give you the evil and so on. I personally just want it to be a suprise for everyone so i'm not really telling a lot of ppl what i want.

I don't believe it's bad luck but it just feels wrong if you know what I mean.
One almost bad thing that happened to me was my Mom. I sent her a picture of me in the dress and my FH was standing behind me when I opened an email from her, she had copied the dress into the email w/a note saying PAID FOR YOU HONEY! I screamed, FH screamed and shut his eyes really quick before I poked them out! He swears he didn't see anything, but I am sure he saw enough.
Oh well.

Nah.... I don't think it is.....
I just went dress shopping last weekend and took pics and I showed FH..... I showed him b/c I knew there was NOWAY I was wearring anything like it or that any of them were contenders.
He gave me his opinion and I apprecicated it..... so don't worry about all of that nonsense it's not true....

i dont think it's bad luck but I just want to surprise everyone. I want everyone to cry when they see me in my dress for the first time - not a realistic goal but I def want FH to cry!!!!

I show FH pics of me in the dresses I didn't pick to get his input. He has not and will not see the dress I have chosen.

I don't believe it's bad luck. I think a lot of the girls don't want to show many people their dress so it's more of a suprise on the wedding day.
I'm Italian and FH is from Italy and I never heard that supersticion until I saw it on the boards. Maybe thats one thing my family hasn't heard.
I can't keep a secret soooo I will show everyone and anyone that will look at it, except FH

My mom didn't want me to show anyone my dress. Not because of bad luck, but she just felt that everyone should be surprised the day of. I was way to excited though and showed anyone and everyone who would give me a second to pull out the magazine picture!!
But I def don't believe it's bad luck!

It is superstition's, just like every other wedding related saying, example, something blue, something old, etc...., but I think it is a personal way to keep tradition alive I guess.
I only showed a handful of people my dress and I plan on keeping it that way until the wedding. Was not because of the bad luck issue, just a personal thing that I want everyone to be surprised.

Hey i'm seeing my FH before the ceremony to take pictures, and they say that's bad luck, lol. I don't think we need to follow these silly superstitions, do what you wanna do

I don't think it's bad luck...I definitely won't show FH but I'm going to try my darndest to not show others!! I just want it to be a surprise more than anything

eh, I'm not so into these bad luck things... I don't even know where the dress one came from, but I think it's probably just a development of the can't see the bride on the wedding day one... which come from arranged marriages, and therefore isn't something I really care about.
as for the surprising people one... I guess I don't see the big deal. It's a wedding, not a performance... I'm not there for people's reactions, I'm there to get married.
not to belittle those who feel that way, it's totally reasonable, just not my thing.
