So I have read in several books that you should never create mailing labels from your computer for your invitations or any other wedding correspondence. I have no idea why this is considered to be in bad taste, but I have read it in several places, so more than one etiquette guru says it is a no-no.
My question is, should I really care? I was counting on clear labels to do my STD's and my invites.I mean in the long run, is anyone going to be like 'I'm not going to that wedding because she used a mailing label!

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
I'm doing labels for the e-party invites. I wouldn't really care if I received an invitation on a label, but that's me. You could just print the address on the envelope in a really nice font.

I dont think it will be a big deal...but I found that it was easier to do a mail merge and then let them print right onto the envelopes cuz the other way would have been double work

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
please I used white labels for my STD's and they look great. The invitation I'm definitely going to use a calligrapher for but to do it for STD's is just crazy

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
ppl who write etiquette books should have to shave my dogs balls.
i say go for the labels on the STD's, why not? as for the invite--i'm not as much a fan of the labels on invites...only because usualy invites are such a big envelope, and then the label is so much smaller looking on them. i printed all the envelopes myself and it came out looking very nice

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
i used labels for my eparty and thank yous. For my STD's i went to dafont.com, downloaded The King & Queen and printed each envelope out individually. For my Invites and Thank Yous I am doing Calligraphy (handwritten), but my wedding is very formal. IDK if that makes a difference or not.

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
No..
Use clear mailing labels for your STDs and Invites.
Use a pretty calligraphy font on the larger clear mailing labels (Avery 5664).
People are not going to frame your envelope...

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
I printed the e-party envelopes on the computer and used labels on the std. For the invites, I will either print them on the computer, or hand write them myself. However, my hand writing is atrocious and I will probably need 50 extra envelopes instead of 25...lol
You are right, I don't think people will NOT go to the wedding because of it.. But then again a handfull may be catty about it and be like 'ugh- so tacky' :in valley girl accent:. There are always 'those' people who alwys have something to say about ettequette- like it really matters. :cough' :cough: My FMIL :cough' :cough:.
I bet most dont even know the ettequete and wont even notice.

Pffft!!! Is what I say, I made labels for the STDS and will do the same for the invites!!! Why pay more if you are on a budget for a calligrapher?!?!? Tired of old-fashioned 'Rules'...

Re: Do we ALWAYS have to follow etiquette?
I am using labels for my STD's. I am not sure if I might print the invitation envelopes or use labels. I am already over my budget so a caligrapher (is that a word lol) is out of the question.
Even though i just received an invitation and it was hand done and it looked beautiful.
