Do we have to buy parents a gift?

Do we have to buy parents a gift?

I was wondering if we have to buy the parents a gift? This is both our second marriage and we are paying for everything. We have 4 sets of parents. Divorced and remarried. I was thinking of getting my mother a little something but that was it. Do you think it would be rude or insensitive of me not to get any of the parents gifts?

Same here. If you are paying for it yourself you do not need to splurge on a gift. Most people do it as a 'thank you' for helping out. No worries

I agree also. I think for the occasion it's done as a way of saying thank you. In my case the wedding is all on us with alittle help from my mom (my dress and the cake). Therefore we'll probably just get her something.

sorry to disagree here

we are paying for mostly everything on our own - but we are getting our parents a little something anyway

yeah, they aren't paying for the wedding but they did provide us with food, clothing and shelter for all these years! and they did make us into wonderful people so easy to fall in love with!

i think a little something is nice - so far we are thinking of getting the mom's gift certificates for their wedding day manis and pedis and getting the dads a gift certificate to someplace manly, lol

JMO!

I agree with you too! We are paying for everything ourselves too, but if it wasn't for our parents we wouldn't be the ppl. we are today. I don't plan on spending a lot of $$ but it's just the thought that counts.

Same Here!! My mom is #1 - without her I don't know where we would be. She is definately my rock and will definately get something special from me. My dad too - Although he has know idea what he is forking over (Mommy is the best- she knows how to hide everything from thrifty dad]

As for FH parents - probably just a little something - but nothing expensive (like hankies) - they aren't helping at all!

if they are paying fo rmost of it i would say defintely something special - if u guys are paying for it i think you should still get a little something - just to thank them for supporting you and rasing you and all that
