FH’s friend is getting married just before our wedding day. We are invited to the wedding, however we were sorta shocked by that b/c they haven’t stayed particularly close. We weren’t planning to invite him to our wedding.
I don’t really want to add anymore to the guest list. Plus I think it would look funny to invite him because we aren’t inviting anyone else in that circle of friends-so it would sort of be obvious why we were inviting him.
Do we not go to his wedding and not invite him to ours?
Go to the wedding and just explain to him that we’re keeping out list short, but are so happy we got to go to his??

I wouldn't go to the wedding, send him a gift, and not invite him to yours. You can use the excuse that your wedding is the next day. If you are not particularly close then it's not like it would hurt thier feelings.

I would go to the wedding (there's a reason they invited you, they would like you there so if you're free, why not go). Even if you go to theirs, you are NOT obligated to invite them to yours!!! I'm sure they will understand (being that they are having a wedding as well), that weddings are expensive and if you just tell them you wish they could be there for your day but you have to keep your numbers down, they won't be offended.
