That's a big generalization...I posted that it wasn't my style and one person agreed...far from 'no one'...BUT who cares what I or anyone else thinks? It's YOUR day, YOUR dress, YOUR way! Don't over analyze, you'll drive yourself insane. No point in asking for opinions on something you already own without saying it's yours...simply because people have different tastes and there's nothing that you could do about it at that point.
Seriously, don't stress. YOU have to love it because you have to wear it! The same goes for all aspects of YOUR wedding...YOURS is the only *opnion* that really matters.

No it wasn't your post, that made me feel bad. I totally respect your opinion. But there were other girls that don't like it. Girls at my job thought i was joking when I said it was dress. And then they felt bad, so try to act like they like it now. Plenty of people don't like it. It's discouraging but I gotta remember why I bought it in he first place...b/c it was me!!!!

Sweetie, even if it was my post...or if it wasn't...you're marrying the man of your dreams, making a beautiful family and will be surrounded by your friends and family. That's important!
Your dress...your hall...your invites, they're all important, yes...but as long as you're happy with the choices, who cares about anyone else? You'll have to look at the albums 20 years from now, no one else does!
And because I know my taste is my taste and I'm 'particular' I saved myself a LOT of aggravation and kept all aspects of wedding planning - ESPECIALLY my dress - to myself. That way I didn't have to hear anything negative since I loved it. When people asked me about favors, my dress (and if you read my review, there was a lot of drama behind my dress and a LOT of curiosity) the hall, etc. I would say 'oh, I rather keep it to myself because I want you to be surprised and if I tell you it would spoil it'...simple as that. That went for family, friends and co-workers. Kept me somewhat sane!

You are right!!!! 100% RIGHT! I showed the girls at my job my shoes and they said to keep looking. Can you believe it? I'm not going to look, I like my shoes.
I am not sharing anything else with anyone!!!!! Thanks for your advice, I am going to take it.
And yes, I am marrying the man of my dreams!!!! And I can't wait to look back 20 years from now.

Its hard to keep things in and not share them, especially when everyone is asking. Ive showed everyone everything and I too have heard negative comments but I dont let them get to me. Everyone has different taste. Heck, I went to look for dresses with my mom and we fought every single time.. . THen I remember one dress she loved.. I looked at her and went 'You love THIS???' and she goes 'YEA!!' and I looked at it (dress looked like it had mirrors on the train LMAO) and I said 'Mom, I have now come to the conclusion that we have TOTALLY different tastes'!! Ever since then, I dont let anyones opinion change what I love! In the end, your day will be perfect!

I know the feeling! My MOH, who was great most of the time, would say things like 'oh, is this not fancy enough for you?' sort of mocking...and people would FREAK whenever they heard I was waiting for my mom to come the week of the wedding to make my dress; I mean, yes it's crazy but that's my mom and she always dreamed of making my dress - what was I supposed to do?
I can't believe people told you to 'keep looking' once you showed them the shoes you ALREADY bought!
Weddings also bring out the worst in people...cattiness, pettiness, jealousy...things that (luckily) a bride won't feel for another (since we mostly feel empathy) but other women get really bitchy!
Even my MIL would notice how upset I would get once I would share something and people would say a stupid comment ('why get married now?' 'why do you need a church wedding?' 'weddings are a waste of money', Ican go on and on!) - she asked me to STOP sharing...and once I did I was so glad. It's the best thing you could do! It's normal to want to share...but that's what the boards are for...the people in your life are not all equiped to handle or respond to news the way we all would hope.

Ummm... I showed someone a swatch of my BM dresses and told her that FH doesnt like the color... she says to me 'OH I CAN SEE WHY!!' OMG .. who says that?!?!??!

OK, this is why I HATE PEOPLE!
I'm sorry to you both...take my advice (well, FMB - it's almost too late since you're so close! ) but honestly DON'T SHARE! It's a sure fire way to stay sane!

I HATE ALL OF YOUR DRESSES. Just kidding. It's easy to say, 'who cares what anyone else thinks?' but then of course, when someone says they don't like it, it really does kind of hurt. It's not even the opinion that hurts... What it is, is that you are excited to share something that you are enthusiastic about, with other people-- you aren't necessarily asking for opinions... you just want to share... then you get negative feedback, and it stinks. Of course, you have to be careful, b/c if you do ask, and you get negative feedback... well, you get the picture.
