So my wedding is in 2 days and I need to resolve this debacle. My parents are insisting that in order to show respect to the family, the aunts, uncles, grandparents, parents who are walking down the aisle, they should be announced who they are on the microphone. My FH says that everyone should walk to music during ceremony without being announced. My parents say that if these people are announced during the reception, that no one will pay attention to them because they are waiting for the bride and groom to come in , and they are all relaxed and eating and talking to friends. How is it usually done? When is everyone announced? Both our ceremony and reception is at Glen Island.

No one gets announced while entering the ceremony. The introductions are at the reception.

Walking down the aisle people are not generally announced. They just walk to the music. If you want to 'announce ' who they are you can have it printed in the programs. Announcing who people are is usually only done at the reception

I have never heard of that. You only accounce people at the reception. I think it would be weird if you did it at the ceremony. JMO

Like the other girls said... announcing is usually only done at the reception... most of the time programs are typed for this purpose... I know it a bit last minute but maybe try to type up a simple program and copy them at Staples....

Wow, that's a lot of people to announce.
Really, though, I've seen it both ways. Most of the time names are kept to the program, but some people announce them. One wedding I went to the entire wedding party was announced and the bride and groom told stories of how they met each respective individual. The ceremony was way...too...long...
