Do you believe that people can say things they don't mean?
do you think that a person could say hurtful things to you one day...and then say the exact opposite the next?
how do you know what to believe? have you ever forgotten the hurtful thing?
is the lens with which you look at yourself or this person irrevocably changed?
is it possible to ever feel good in relation to the hurtful topic.
yes, vague. I know..but thats me.

Yeah I think they can say things they don't mean.
I do it sometimes. When i feel awful and hurt and angry at Rob I will sometimes say something mean and horrible to him - because I want him to see how I feel.
Then I feel bad.
Then I apologize.
Then he forgives me because he knows I am half crazy but totally devoted to him.
I try not to do that.. but sometimes that wicked part of me just takes over.

People can definitely say mean things they don't mean. I've been on both ends... when I was the one being hurt, I forgave but never forgot. Sometimes I still think about what was said. While it still stings, the pain disspates pretty quickly. When I've said mean things, I was filled with regret while the words were being uttered.

I think the mean things are often what the person REALLY thinks of you, and it has been lurking there inside trying to bust out.
If a person says something nasty to me about me, or about DH or someone close to me, I will despise them forever. I know that seems extreme, but there isn't enough time in my life to be bothered with nasties.

yes

I go with my gut. Also, consistency and past experiences.

never

Yes, I think so.

That is up to the individual, but I have done it - but I had to work at it.

I almost NEVER mean the evil things that can spill out of my mouth.
I am more concerned with the hurtful things people say behind my back while smiling to my face. Friends holding knives behind their backs are FAR more hurtful than people who spit horrid things out in a moment of passion.

Yes, becuase I do that. Mostly, I write it. But someone snooped and saw how all over the place I am; I am more mean than sweet.

The mean is fleeting - I say it or write it, but once it comes out of my pen, I don't feel it so fiercely. I'm shocked sometimes to go back and see my words. I've been on the other side - I don't forget though.

Snooping someone looks at me entirely differently. Don't blame them.

Not sure. In time I might have an answer.

yes, you can say things you don't mean. I do it a lot, why, I don't know - maybe for effect, or to be funny or to get back at someone.
