Do you ever feel like some people are rooting for your marriage to fail?
Like people who are single or divorced? Sometimes I get the feeling some people would like nothing better than for us to get divorced.... I mean w/ comments like 'Wow, you got married on your anniversary? Very bad luck, your doomed to fail!' with a big mile on her face I don't know what else to think!

My mother told me I absolutely should not use any engagement gifts we got before we are married so that I can return them to the giver if we don't work out. Not b/c it's bad luck, but so we can return them. She clearly thinks we are meant to be

some people (even mothers) really have a way with their words sometimes

My so-called girlfriend tried to give me a speech about marriages not working when I became engaged. I think it was because her marriage didn't work out. But, everybody's situation is not hers. Of course, I didn't listen. Keep your head up because you know what you have is for real.
