Selfish... like you write a post like 'I can't find the perfect shoes to go with my dress, what a problem' and the post under it is someone who is haveing a real problem (illness, death in family, weddings off), and you feel like, wow, my problem is so petty..

Everyone goes through rough times...I feel bad especially for those who have to deal with the stress of wedding planning and the stresses of ILs, sicknesses, etc...
But, that doesn't make wedding planning any less stressful for the rest of us.

yes, but that is what this whole website is for. It's for women to vent to each other about whatever is going on with their weddings, petty or not. When you think about it, in the big scheme of things, getting so wrapped up in a wedding that you actually log onto a website all the time to talk about it is somewhat petty considering there are people starving and we have soldiers fighting a war. However, I realize that and take it for what it is and admit that I enjoy engaging in these petty little activities while I'm engaged. I'm addicted to this damn web site and I'm not afraid to admit it!!! It helps us all release our feelings and let off some steam, good or bad. It actually bothers me when people use it for other reasons. I know people get friendly with other members of the site, but I really wish people didn't feel the need to go on and on about non wedding related issues.... They should vent about those issues on the NWR site so that you can complain about your shoes all you want without feeling silly!

I always seem to be the one of those with real life hardcore problems - mainly the ones Eleanor listed - death and illness. I am sure from time to time, they bring people down, but I will not post them on NWR because the kinship and sense of sorority I have developed has been with the 06ers (and a few 05ers too). They are the ones who have stood by me, given resources, offered support, time and shoulders to cry on in my time of need. Never in my life have I ever experienced such a camaraderie amongst women.
However, like Amanda said, I am able to understand that life goes on and people are entitled to their happiness. Even if the issue is as simple as what favor to give or the fact that your flower girl is allergic to rose petals. I find the wedding related things a wonderful diversion to hardcore drama.
