Do you ever get upset on the behalf of a bride you don't know?

Do you ever get upset on the behalf of a bride you don't know?

A girl I work with mentioned that a family member's wedding is this weekend, out of state. She and her parents RSVP'd yes, but she doesn't want to go anymore.

I mentioned something along the lines of 'the bride probably already has her count in to the caterer and pays per person' and she said 'oh, my parents are going to give a nice gift so it's no big deal'

well, as of today she said she's wavering about the wedding and will decide the day before.

Poor bride. I don't even know her and i'm angry and annoyed on her behalf.

I know that's right, I don't know her and it got under my skin. That is not cool. You do to others as you would like them to do unto you.

OMG yes... I mean we completely know what they are going through. I get upset all the time when I hear things like that. Especially when it's you girls and you are venting about different things that come up, I get all fired up!

WOW! What a rude biatch. So what if her parents are giving a nice gift. Dh and I sacrificed inviting people we really wanted to invite so other could come. If they didnt show up last minute we would have been very upset. She obviously has NEVER planned anything like this in her life.

That stinks, i would get upset for the bride too!

Well, what you CAN do after you are married ( AND I have done it a few times ) is pretend the same thing happened to you and try to explain the bride's side.

'OMG a few people didn't show up at my wedding and it was terrible - i lost out on X amount of dollars and if they had just TOLD me even a few days before it wouldn't have been an issue PLUS I could have moved some people over to their table and my friends could have all sat together!'

the weird thing is she is 'engaged' but prides herself on wanting to have a tiny wedding, very low key...

People I work with make fun of me and call me a bridezilla ( I live upstate so ideas about weddings are much different). I let them know how things are suppose to be done and what brides expect. People like the girl you work with are so rude. A teacher I work with kind of did the same thing but the opposite. Her and her DH RSVP'D no to a wedding. She was telling me they now want to go (this was a Friday and it was on a Saturday). I told her you have to call her and they might not have room for you. She said well don't you pay for a couple of extra people just in case they show up. I said um no. I am paying for the number of people that said yes. If someone shows they can stand!

Sorry long its just I work with backwards people and they piss me off.

I dont think it would make me mad but I have to admit, now that I am hosting my own wedding, I realize things that I never did before. Like gifts, guest, showers, etiquette - just the whole importance of things now.

Planning my wedding has been like a 2nd job and an education (MRS. degree haha) and I am so much more aware of things than I was before....even things like writing cute notes on RSVP cards!! People who do what that girl is doing just show you how inexperienced they are and make me mad. I always stick up for other brides when I hear stories like this...and I will always lecture people on the importance of sending back RSVP cards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
