Do you ever just see things and shanke your head?

Do you ever just see things and shanke your head?

I used to work in what I thought was a nice respectable piano bar. The tourists and locals (mostly gay men) would come in and sit around and sing showtunes together with the staff. Well, last night I was almost ashamed to be a straight person.

It all started with the rowdy straight men from Daytona. They walked in while I was on stage singing. As I was making my way back to the stage one of them stopped to ask me a question. The next thing I know I was surrounded by 6 horny drunk Daytonains. They closed in like a pack of dingos on a dead carcass. All trying to touch me and getting a little too close for comfort. I closed my eyes and just started pushing through. I finally reached freedom and quickly retreated back behind the bar. A few minutes later a woman (here after referred to as drunken MARRIED slut or just slut) walks over to the guys. Again the frenzy among the men started only this time the victim was more then willing. I stood in awe and watched as this MARRIED slut proceeded to make out with each and every guy. I made several attempts to save her, but she wanted no part of it. Finally, after one of the guys hand went up her skirt, I suggested to her that she leave. I got one of my nice gay male friends to escort the woman to a cab and make sure that she got home.

I have worked in bars for 12 yrs. I have seen a lot of things that amaze me. I have sadly witnessed married individuals hook up before. I think maybe now that I am married it just seems different to me. I know that some people can't handle their alcohol, but this just seemed sad and disgusting to me. It just makes me shake my head.

I'm with you - some things I have no words for - just a sad shake of the head

You can only imagine what would've happened if you hadn't intervened, and how many times it had happened before. It's so sad. I thankfully can't imagine having that little self esteem to seek out praise (and fondling) from men you don't even know.

What you were describing reminded me of that Jodi Foster movie - was it 'The Accused?' It seems like your situation could have easily turned into something truly awful. It makes me glad to hear that there are people like you who work in bars who are willing to intervene. I'm proud of you!

Married or not married that's just plain disgusting. When I was young I did my fair share of drinking, but I was more likely to hit someone with a pool stick then make out with a stranger. Obviously that woman has some serious self esteem issues it's a good thing you had her leave.

How funny- I just read your post after reading mine! Same observation and wording!

So awful. You would think people would have more sense...situations like that can quickly escalate beyond one's control and then it gets scary. I saw something similar on spring break once and it just horrified me.

Glad you had sense enough to get yourself OUT!

It's very sad that that woman had such a low level of self-respect. I'm glad you were able to remove yourself from the situation.
