Do you ever notice...........

that when we talk to people who don't speak english that well, we tend to yell?
Isn't that strange? Like thats going to help them understand us better.

I think it's more because we are having trouble understanding them so we tend to project our wish for them to speak slower and louder.

There's a girl in my office that speaks with a heavy accent and very softly. One of our co-workers was trying to hear her better but was really staring at her like that would turn up her speaking volume.

My grandma has a thick accent. I always talk really loud when I am speaking to her.
DH always has to remind me of what I am doing.
