A number of people have told me that you never use the quilt from the bedset since a) you cannot put a baby down with a quilt anyway and b) they are expensive so you tend to only use them if company is coming over....
What are your experiences? I found a bumper and crib dust ruffle that I love..but I am not super crazy about the actual quilt.

betcha not.....if you dont' like it, can you skip it? or does it come with it? if you like it..but just think you'll never use it, you can hang it on the wall behind the crib. that would look really pretty. they sell those rods that are for quilts.

I used it when Emma was smaller and she would fall asleep on the floor. I would put her on that. Other than that, its a waste of $$

I like the set but the quilt is going to be too busy with the mural on the walls. I want the paintings to be the room focus, not the bedding. So I was thinking that I probably don't even need the quilt, just the other stuff....

Michele I love the set but I agree the quilt might be a bit much if you have a lot going on on the walls---the detail on the bumper set is great

I love the set Michele! Gorgeous!
IMO, I wouldn't get the quilt. It's not necessary. Plus, you are going to have a mural on the wall, and will not be using the quilt as decoration.
I use mine for when Lyndsey has tummy time on the floor...but that's it. And you can do that with ANY blanket.

Wow, that is such a beautiful set!!!! I agree with it being too much if you have stuff on the walls.

I agree that it's probably better suited for plain walls.

I love the bumper/ skirt and am not crazy about the quilt actually. It's called a voile print, right? I think you could totally skip it and go with a plain red or ivory blanket if you wanted to add another piece.

Thanks girls. I do love toile as well, but not with a what I want painted on my walls. I think a plain red or ivory blanket will work well.

I love the toile! but I can see how it wouldn't go with your mural...
a solid quilt would look lovely (if you need one at all).

Re: Do you ever use the baby quilt from the set?
Hmmm...great minds think alike. I was really loving the green toile when I was designing Paul's room and mural. As you know, I decided against it...definitely too busy. But, you don't have to stick with just solids, either. I have stripes and plaid in Paul's room, and even have a blue gingham sheet that I use when the others are in the wash.
I would also speak to the person who is doing the mural...if they have a good eye (as most artists should)...they should be able to offer an opinion about the entire design of the room...not just what is being painted on the walls.
I know this might now be possible for you (b/c you're not buying the bedding until after baby is born), but if you can get your hands on the fabric swatches, that is important. The person who painted Paul's mural used custom colors to match the bedding for Paul's crib...you may not think it matters, but when a shade of red or yellow or green is slightly tweaked, it can really, really tie the room together nicely. Just something to think about...HTH!

Claud- great idea about calling her. The company is trying to get me fabric samples now- the designer normally doesn't send them out but they are trying to get me something.
I agree that the colors in the room need to match the bedding.
